Giving myself some amor first thing this morning.
A nice little myofascia massage for the sole of my foot (just a few minutes of rolling with my massage ball)
Followed by covering the footsies with colour and fun.

I'm kinda having the craic, but it's also true. We spend the vast majority of our day on our feet, even if sitting down. A few minutes of lovin' for them, goes a long way❀️

On mornings when the chica did es not feel like getting up, this little practice gets me out of the leabaπŸ€—πŸ”₯πŸ’•
Listening to our body & breath first thing in the morning, is a powerful way to set ourselves up for the day. Today my head was saying "Go for a run", but my cuerpo was saying "some firey, inversiony yoga", and so I listened to the body. Here's a pic from my morning practice today. Ideal for this chilly, November day.

Let's help to kickstart our weekend morning with the same intention, to connect to body, and breath. Rest assured this week the girl will bring some fire to the practice, to warm us upπŸ’πŸ”₯πŸ˜‰

Join me, Sunday 10:00 - 11:00AM in ,just off Grand Parade. πŸ¦‹πŸ™πŸŒΊ

Hola friends πŸ’πŸ€—πŸ™

Balance... Why practice it?

Because it gives us a chance to prep for rela life, in a fun, safe environment. Falling in and out of balance, exploring how it varies from day to day, and one side of the body to the other. This was me getting my balance on bright and early this am.

Join me for class this Sunday 10 - 11AM to explore your equilibrium , in Triskel Arts Centre. πŸ’

Aside from the fact that I like playing tennis, this quote is one that can be applied to anything. Taken more metaphorically, than at face value, there is a lot to be got from these words.

To stay in the game, to keep moving forward, to continue to be open to new experiences, to learning, to growth, and to letting go of old habits, ideas, or accepting that maybe what we once wanted, is no longer what we desire.

Becoming a champion is going to look different for all of us, because I guess we all have different values, and are striving for different outcomes, but by continuing to have our own back, we will get there. One step at a time, one breath at a time. 😎

18/04/2021

I think it’s good to have an idea of where we want to go, and why we are going there. But sometimes, maybe we begin to go in a certain direction without checking in with our intentions, as we go. Our initial idea can be quite different to the reality. Like, when setting out to climb a mountain we have never climbed, or going on a long hike: we imagine how it might feel; where it might bring us; the length of the journey; people we may meet etc, but the reality may be quite different.
Maybe the detour is realising that the actual path is quite different to the imagined one. The moment or accumulation of moments that lead to this realisation: living the experiences of the journey, and perhaps, changing route.
It is too easy to stay on the same route just because everyone else is, or because we don’t want to admit that the imagined v actual path are worlds apart. There is strength and honesty in acknowledging this.
Hmmm… food for thought, amigos. πŸ™ˆπŸŒΊβ˜€

β€œProgress over Perfection” πŸ€—πŸŒΊβ˜€Yes, I did just quote myself.πŸ™Š Giving my all to trying to let these words guide me, at the moment. I have just prepared a series of videos for all of my subscribers (if you haven’t already got yours, just subscribe to my newsletter at www.orlayoga.com, to get your free home yoga kit).

I am continuing this work by creating more videos that I am creating for an online course I will be bringing to you, in the coming months.

Perfection is an easy place to get stuck, and can most definitely sap the joy from a project. However, when used wisely, it can guide us to accept what we have created, and learn how we may use that knowledge to make something even more wonderful, next time round. And so, these words are somewhat of a mantra for me now, helping me to progress with my work, helping me in finding ways of sharing content with you all. May they help you too, amigos.🧑

Mighty banter in Achill last summer. We were on the ole, holiday in Ireland vibe, and what a fun way to do it. This pic was taken after schimmying our way through a field full of sheep (not appreciating us gracing their pastures), only to get a stunning sunset on a beach down the road from our little hostel. Such fun, with quality people. Good times in nature & in Irlanda.πŸ€—β˜€πŸŒΊ I'm very grateful for the fine weather and time we are getting in nature at the moment. I am bringing this class to you, as now is an ideal time, to carve out time in your week to give some nourishment to your body & mind. Both are intrinsically connected, and yoga offers us a wonderful way to balance the two. Let's bring ease into the body, and invite some relaxation, striving for optimal health, and carrying the benefits through into our daily life.

I am excited to be offering one-to-one yoga class, via Zoom with morning, afternoon, and evening options.

There is an initial 20min free consult, to check in with what you would like from your practice, and also, to get a feel for your potential teacher - moi πŸ€—πŸŒΊπŸ™ˆ

We are all dealing with a lot of uncertainty, challenge, and stress in our lives at the moment. Our bodies holding far more tension, and tightness, than the usual stuff that builds-up through long hours at the desk, or tight areas of our body brought on by certain repetitive activities, and lack of stretching.

Yoga offers us the chance to reconnect with our best, healthiest self, in body, mind & spirit.

You choose your focus. I tailor-make the sequence. We work together and make adjustments, as will benefit you.πŸ’›

Typically, this would be a once per week class, via Zoom, booked as a pack. DM me if interested.

Good for the soul :

Hello to my new fiesty flower Luna y Miel. Picked up a nice, bright plant for my room, last week. It's lovely to see a bit of green and a splash of colour, on waking. I have her propped up on the desk in my room, by the window - we are both enjoying the windswept look ;) ;P
I'm very grateful for the brighter evenings, my new plant, the tunes in my ear, and ...the opportunity to put my sunglasses on. What are you grateful for today?πŸ€—πŸŒΊπŸ™ˆ

Great craic last week in Half Moon PoseπŸ™ˆπŸπŸ€— We got a gorgeous sunny morning so I got out for a sunrise run and decided to get some nice pics and do some moves on the grass after. Enter Mom, with the camera, dog poo all over the place (not our little lad - he's too well trained ;) ) and a glaring sun that meant manoeuvering around the grass, to try and get a shot that could be seen - all while holding this pose, which, can I say, is a challenge in itself and one which requires one-pointedness.

Well, I guess it's a great sign of the 6 weeks I've had, that I found the funny side to the mess that was this funny photo shoot and am now able to admire how the sun eclipses my frame. Plenty improv required, as has been the case for us all these last weeks and will be over the coming weeks. I wish you guys the best in finding your balance and also, in having a laugh along the way.

Namaste πŸ’πŸ˜‹πŸŒΊ

Dancer Pose in Iceland :
Had great fun getting into this pose on the frozen deck of my friend's place in Vik y Mydral, Iceland, just over a year ago πŸ™ˆπŸπŸ€—

A fun way to really test your balance. This pose has so many benefits and beaituful qualities in strengthening and stretching different areas of our bodies including hip flexors, glutes and chest. Even more beneficially, it is highly challenging and so requires our full attention, taking us out of the multi-tasking mode and monkey mind and bringing us into our bodies and the present moment.

This morning as I sit here writing this, it may be a few degrees warmer than last year in Iceland but it's fresh enough in Eire too.

Tap into your dancer today, and find flow, balance and serenity.😎

Thank you sunshine :) We've been getting a couple of beautiful, bright, crisp mornings these last days and I am taking full advantage of them. Enjoying my cuppa while reading one of a few books I've just started into: A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.

I kept hearing about this book or this guy being mentioned by a variety of people from family members to friends and also in wellbeing podcasts, so felt it was time to give it a read. Really enjoying it so far. Also, I'm kind of picking random areas and jumping around the book - nice to be able to do that: Little bite-size chunks with plenty of insightful points.

While totally acknowledging the importance of keeping our bodies healthy, it's equally important to keep our hearts and minds healthy and happy. I'm lucky to be able to have a bit more time to give to activities like this, at the moment. Is there any recommendable book or podcast you're reading/listening to, now? πŸπŸ™ˆ

Big hugs guys πŸ€—β˜€οΈπŸŒΊ

Yoga is a practice, a lifestyle, a passion and a creative space to find harmony in body, mind, heart & spirit. Yoga is what you make of it.

There is a common misconception of yoga as being non-athletic or only for the spiritually inclined. However, the beauty of yoga is that you don’t need to be spiritual to benefit from the practice. Nor are you required to be straining at a gym to get a physical workout. Yoga is a breath-centred movement that allows each and every one of us to strengthen, stretch, improve mobility and posture, boost the mood and balance our body and mind, bringing us closer to our unique, optimal state of wellbeing.

Yoga allows us to slow our reactions and to be guided by what is required of us in any given moment, be it in practice, at work, in family life or in our relationships. It is an opportunity to challenge the body without straining it and to build physical and mental resilience.

If you haven’t already guessed, yoga is a heartfelt passion of mine. I came to the practice some 9 years ago and it has blossomed to become an integral part of my daily life. I love to move, to dance, music, art and nature. For me, yoga provides a way of combining these passions. In yoga, I am always learning and progressing. Through regular practice, I move into harmony, allow my breath to centre me and let yoga do its magic. And now, I want to share this beautiful practice with you. Come join me on the mat 😊
