Popped into the studio today for the first time in 2024 🥰 Brought Mr. Rasher with me.

I won't be open this weekend as still under the weather but back to business from next week again 🙏

Can't wait to see what 2024 holds for this homely space, and what creative goodness it will reveal ✨️✨️✨️✨️

It's New Year's Eve, an eve where we look back on the year past, to ring out the old, welcome the new.

Unfortunately, tonight, there is a terrible unease in the World. I know we are all behind , but for some reason, it is not happening, and babies, children, and people are still being brutally massacred.

Don't be silent anymore in this if you can.

We need to use our voices to stop this, our images, and anything we can ! We are witnessing a live genocide playout on social media. What a disgrace for humanity. What a disgrace for humankind.

Celebrating NYE tonight doesn't feel justified. I've been looking so dearly at my own children these past few weeks, thanking God they were born here and are safe and can be tucked into bed safely every night.

God, please help those in Gaza, Palestine tonight. I'm sure their trauma will never go away if they get to see another day! May the leaders who are letting this happen be stopped! NOW!

No more. I can see no more. But I must.

We cannot ignore!

We cannot ignore the massacre. We cannot ignore what is happening to the babies, the children, the people of Palestine.

We must increase the pressure to stop this murder.

This murder must stop!

What has happened to humanity. What has happened to these people committing such acts. What has happened to the hearts of those letting it happen, those not pulling the triggers, but using words, or lack thereof, to ensure it continues. Do they even have hearts?

I fear for our world. I fear that our voices are useless. I fear that our leaders are useless. Where are we to get help from now? Where????.....

The world is hurting right now.
We are hurting, but it's nothing compared to the hurt being brutally realised on a constant basis in Palestine. By the mothers, the brothers, the sisters , the fathers , the sons, the daughters. Will the hurt ever be healed for them? No! Never!

Let's not hide from this. Let's use our voices, our art, our images, our words, however little they may all seem. It's all these small things together that will grow into bigger responses. Lets be heard!

We are only one but together we make up the world! Please share and keep sharing. This HAS TO STOP!

So Bitter Sweet to be opening the kiln to find these new stars looking up at me. I've forever loved 'Fairytale of New York' and felt this was the song that made it Christmas for me.
Hearing the news of Shane MacGowans passing yesterday was terribly sad. He was such a legend in the music world. But forever will live on in the words he left as a legacy to us all.

This Saturday, 18th Nov, Orla O's Studio will open doors to everyone who would like to create their very own 'Porcelain Star'

This is a walk in and create session which will run from 11am - 3pm.

Open to all ages, it is an opportunity for all to create something meaningful and something that you will either keep forever or gift to someone special ☆☆☆

Creating your Star will take approx 10 minutes, and this will then be fired by Orla and you will be able to collect approx 1-2 weeks later.

Options will be to either imprint letters or drawings into a raw Porcelain star , or to draw onto a pre bisque fired star. You can choose on the day with my guidance.

This can be prebooked from the link in my bio (€12 per star) or paid for on the day (€15 per star).

Made Local - Made to Last
 
I am so proud to participate in the  campaign, which celebrates Irish made products and design. Being a part of this campaign supports my business and shines a spotlight on the talented makers of Ireland.

It's 'World Mental Health Day' and I have been thinking about what words to post.

This is a piece that was made at one of my recent workshops, and upon reading the words that night, it sent me back to when I was in my own darkness. It spoke to me and the words have not left me since..
And so I think it's only apt to share them today with you.

I was diagnosed with Post Natal Depression after my first child. I wasn't diagnosed properly for over a year, by which time meant healing was going to be a harder journey. And it was!

But looking back, it was the people in my life who sat with me, who listened to me, who gave me their time, who were there for the highs and the lows, that I will be forever grateful to.

I know that if you have never walked down that dark road of depression, you will never really understand what it is like to go though. But for those who stand by regardless and are a positive force in your life at the time, they are the ones to hold onto, they are the keepers!

Be that person in someone's life! Be the true friend! Be the keeper!

And for anyone who is going through their own darkness right now, know that there is a light. It may not seem like that at times, but it will shine through eventually. Believe me.

'A true friend is someone that knows the song of your soul and sings it back to you when you have forgotten the words'
