My Blog Let me introduce myself. I have started this yoga journey with a different approach and
understanding than what I have today.

And I love each step taken
into this wonderful journey. My first encounter with yoga was through my father. I am not sure if
he ever practised yoga, but he was interested in the matter. I once
saw a book on his desk, about yoga and I asked him what yoga is. I
think I was around 7 or 9 years old. He tried to explain to me what
yoga was and he also told me about the book. I remembered that it
was ab

What are the beasts roaming in your mind? The jungle of your mind

Procrastination is my biggest one
Not pleasant to look in this inner jungle
Not pleasant to face these beasts
But necessary if you want to evolve, if you are tired of being the slave of your mind.
Let your mind be your servant, not your master.

In nature I find solace
In prayers and meditation I find my way back
In simplicity I rejoice

Imagine a world where we are less judgemental and more supportive
Where we see the beauty in everyone, beyond the physical
A world where we are all walking temples as God/ Life force/ Universal Consciousness flows through everything.
If you can imagine it you can create it.
Start with yourself!
Start today!

Yoga is not only the bending of the body. Yoga is how you are, every day, every second.

How well do you know your spine - part 3

The human spine is not a single bone. It is formed of 33 ( sometimes 34) bones or vertebrae.
A nice analogy is a string of beads.
The string holds the beads together.
But for the spine, it is the vertebrae that hold the "string" together, protecting this treasure. The treasure is the spinal cord that runs through the spine.

Facts about the spinal cord:
🔥It is a cylindrical structure about the diameter of the little finger.
🔥Begins immediately bellow the brain stem and extends to the first lumbar vertebra L1.
🔥The brain and the spinal cord make up the Central Nervous System.

When we work with the spine in yoga we also address the nervous system.

Love your spine ♥️

How well do you know your spine - part 2

The first vertebra in the spine is called Atlas.
It is part of the cervical spine ( neck)
The Atlas and the Axis are the only vertebras that are named, the rest are only numbered.
The Atlas is named this way because it supports the head, like the Greek mythical figure Atlas, who supported the Earth upon his shoulders.

Facts you might not know about the natural curves of the spine

We all know that the spine has 4 natural curves:
2 forward curves = lordosis, seen in the neck and low back
2 backward curves = kyphosis, seen in the thoracic spine (rib cage area) and sacrum

But did you know that:
🔥 The first curve is developed in the womb and is the kyphotic curve ( visualize the entire length of the spine in a flexed c-shape).
🔥The second curve is developed after birth, when the baby is on its tummy and starts to raise its head - this is the curve in the neck region - lordosis.
🔥 Later, when the baby starts to stand on its own feet, it develops another backward curve in the lumbar region ( lower back).

This week we focus on the spine.
Our spine is designed to move in many directions:
🔥Extension (backbends)
🔥Flexion (forward bends)
🔥Lateral flexion (side bends)
🔥Axial rotation (spinal twists)

It is crucial to maintain our spine healthy, flexible and mobile. Only by moving we can do so.

If you want some yummmyness fir the spine, meet me each morning at 7 am.

Timeline photos 13/04/2020

Our spine is one of the differentiating factors that defines us as humans.

The spine has an exceptional memory. It remembers and becomes used to the posture. That is why it is hard to change the habit of a bad posture. But it doesn't mean you can not do it.

Are you looking after your spine?
How important is for you to have a healthy spine?

Warrior Flow

09/04/2020

An invitation for reflection:
🔥How can you embody the Warrior?
🔥What does the Warrior mean to you?
🔥In what areas of your life could you bring forth the Warrior?
🔥What are your internal enemies (obstacles)?
🔥What are the weapons/ tools (arising from inner wisdom) that will help you overcome these obstacles?

Warrior 2

Today we've been exploring this pose which is a powerful opportunity for discovering your strength and opening your hips.

It works the whole body and it shows us where we create and hold unnecessary tension in the body but also in our daily life, if we take a moment to reflect upon that.

This is the beauty of yoga, that it is a practice we do on and off the mat, although in our western world yoga tends to be limited to fancy leggings and pretzel bendy poses. In fact it is so much more.

Humble Warrior
Baddha Virabhadrasana

This pose is a reminder to humbly look inward and know our worthiness and unique purpose while also acknowledging that all people have the same worth.

Timeline photos 06/04/2020

Something to think about or meditate upon this week as we dive into the Warriors of yoga.

Why do we even practice these poses on the mat, apart from the physical benefits? What is a yoga warrior all about?
To me it is a symbol of fighting against our own ignorance, our limiting beliefs, and against the illusion of separateness.
We are all connected. And maybe now more than ever we can see it, live it, understand it.

Maybe it is time to wake your inner warrior.

Aliegnement for Warrior 1:

🔥Heel to heel aliegnement
🔥Front knee is bent just as much as you can. Ideally the front thigh should be parallel to the floor but don't compromise your safety for the form. As you can see I still can't be with my knee bent 90 degrees which is fine.
Also make sure that your front knee is not dropping in; keep it aliegned with your second and third toes.
🔥 Back heel is down and you should press the outer edge of the back foot down.
🔥As you keep back heel down you bring that hip forward. Tricky right? Cause the heel will want to lift. Place a folded blanket underneath your back heel for support.
🔥 Lift the lower abs up so you can lengthen the lower back. It is common to overarch the lower back which creates compression.
🔥Side body long
🔥tuck your lower ribs slightly in
🔥Lift your arms up, roll the arms in so the pinky fingers are facing forward
🔥 Slide the shoulder blades down on your back
🔥 Open up your chest with grace and courage
🔥Think about your arms as sharp swords
🔥Keep your gaze soft and focussed on a single point on front of you.

WARRIORS CLUB

For the next week we will be exploring the Warriors asanas in yoga.

We will learn within the laboratory of each pose all the actions necessary to find ease into it. Asanas (yoga poses) are like puzzls, and when we discover how to fit together all the parts, a sense of satisfaction arises.
After the warming up we will be diving into each Warrior, one each day, focusing on aliegnement, modifications - so that it suits anyone, and embodiment.

⏲️Each morning 7 am GMT on instagram live starting Monday 6th of April (1 hour long)
You don't necessary need a mat, a blanket can do for the sequences on the floor.
This practice should be done before eating.

Anyone can join 🙏

I would love to share my morning practice with you guys, if you like mornings and moving.
This is how I know I can help.

We will be doing standing poses so don't worry if you don't have a mat.

It is crucial to stay sane in these challenging times.

Starting tomorrow 28 th of March.

Much love and Namaste.

A bit different class today - YOGA CIRCUITS
simple and fun.
Because sometimes it is good to break the routine and try different things or a different approach.
Plus I didn't have enough balls for everyone and I really wanted the guys to try it out for foot massage to releaase fascia, it feels so so good after.
But hey, I got to be creative and put together this class.
What seems to be an impediment or lack of resources can easily be transformed into an asset.

Goodbye 2019
A year filled with lessons♥️
A new chapter written this year, choices, mistakes, sometimes lonely walks with ups and downs, sometimes amazing uplifting people reaching out without even asking. Grief. Joy of waking up each morning and getting another day to be here.
Wonderful teachers met along the way. Imposter Syndrome. Failing. Trying again. Failing. Growing.

May we all step into the new year with vibrant smiles. Be rich in anyway and everyway. Be present. Aliveness. Gratitude. Adventure. Laughter. Unwavering focus. Fearless faith. Health. Prosperity.

My intentions for this new year. My wishes for you.

🙏
