One of Dungloe’s landmark buildings, the old Sweeney’s Hotel, is currently undergoing renovations to restore the renowned hotel to its former glory.
Devenney Drilling are delighted to have played their part in the restoration.

An essential part of the renovation was to maintain the stability of the exiting arch.
Devenney Drilling were contracted in to break out a channel in order to connect the new sewer system to the existing system.

This job was carried out by operating the plug and feather technique. This technique was require in order to maintain the integrity and stability of the existing building and archway.
It was essential to limit ground vibrations, therefore a traditional rock breaker would not be recommended.

BEFORE & AFTER
Here is a small domestic job we carried out lately.
The rock was obstructing the driveway and was in close proximity to the exsiting house.

We were able to remove the rock by using the plug and feather technique. This was carried effectively without the impacting the house and ground vibrations.

In this case a rock breaker and machine would not have worked as the rocks was close to the exsisting house and would have resulted in cracking and damage to the house.
