You can see the amazing Grianan of Aileach from your window outside our Snug cabin ❤️
An Iron Age stone fortress that was used from about 800 BC till about 1200 CE; located in County Donegal, Ireland.

According to legend, it was built by renowned King Daghda of Tuatha de Danann. Supposedly, king’s son Aeah was buried in center of fortress.

Fort was seat of Kingdom of Aileach, that ruled much of Ulster at that time. It was raised once by Vikings, and Murtaigh O’Brien, Kind of Munster finished job in 1191 CE. It was restored to its current state in 19th Century CE.

We just hosted the one and only AKA Annie Mac and her family. She was playing in Derry and of course had to stay with us for a couple nights and drink a wee pint or two of creamy Guinness in our wee pub. We think she liked Glack House & Inch Island. Cheers Annie ☘️🍺🎧

With no real experience in building or running an airbnb we jumped head first into Glack House about ten years ago. It was just an old beat up, couple hundred year old farm. Half the rooms you see today didn’t even have floors or roofs! We literally built it from the ground up.
A lot of blood sweat and tears went into this place. And we didn’t even try to kill each other even once during the process 😆
We built Glack House with our own hands. It took us about 4 years to build it with the help of a couple good folks in between our busy day jobs!
We love our home and love sharing it with other folks. Come along and stay with us! We promise you will love it as much as us x

The stone fort of Grianán of Aileach has sat on the Inishowen Peninsula since 1700 BC, and in its lifetime it has gained quite a few interesting stories. The fort is linked with the mythical Tuatha Dé Danann and their god Dagda, and later with the baptism by St Patrick of local chieftain Eoghan, from whom Inishowen gets its name! And the tales of this spot may not be over – legend goes that the giants of Inishowen are lying sleeping under Grianán of Aileach, but once a hidden sacred sword is removed they will spring back to life to reclaim their ancient land. So stay on your toes!
