Ryan Quinn lobbing the keeper for his fourth of the evening in the U14's win last night
Iarla Cassidy rounding the keeper and finishing expertly in yesterday's thriller against Ballybofey yesterday
Drumbar were the sharpest side out of the blocks, racing in to a 2 goal lead in the 1st 8mins. Eoin Cassidy got on the end of a cross to finish with a wonderful header. Ethan Wasson doubled the lead on 10m as he slipped the ball past the oncoming keeper to make it 2 0. The boys knuckled down then and pulled 1 back through a magnificent Sasha free kick. This spurred the boys on and they soon made it 2 2 when Josh Brennan lobbed over the keeper. Senan Melly made it 3 2 at the back post with a brilliant volley, before Tom Erskine made it 4 2 with a brilliant header from a corner. The lads made it 5 on the stroke of half time when Dylan mc Fadden slipped home after a very unselfish pass from Josh Brennan to round off an action packed 1st half. Drumbar made it 5 3 in the 1st min of the second half when Wasson went through to finish well again. It was a matter of keep what you have then for the boys as they dug in and showed unreal spirit throughout the whole 2nd half as Drumbar battled gamely to try get back in the game. Adam Meehan savedbrilliantly from Wasson with 15m to go and it looked like it would be Town's day from then. The lads saw out the game through a real team performance all over the pitch with Jake Monaghan the stand out performer. Well done both teams on a very sporting event. ***Video is of Sasha's wonderful free kick that brought town back into the match***
Great scenes from Cavan as our u15s are crowned Ulster Champions after a resilient 1-0 victory over Keadue Rovers. A fantastic achievement and first underage Ulster triumph since 1990 for the club. Thomas Lenehan the hero of the hour with the winning goal inside the first 15. Well done to the management team of Benny Byrne, Dermot McCafferty, Jim McMullin, Alan Henehan and all the u15 playing squad. Up the Town ๐ฃ๐ต
Our Saturday team have come out of the traps flying in 2024 as they currently lead Arranmore 3-0 on the Island. Goals have been scored by Darragh Owens, Raymond McGroary and an OG. Attached is our 2nd goal of the day which was a fantastic header from Raymie following a sublime corner by Ciaran Monaghan. Keep it up lads!
Saturday morning and Cup final fever was all around the Hospital Pitch in Donegal Town. Eany Celtic were the opposition and the stakes were high. Eany had proved to be a stumbling block for the boys during their league campaign and they were determined to make it right in the cup. John McGlanaghey took charge of the game and it was end to end stuff from the start. The deadlock was broken when Donegal were awarded a penalty mid way through the first half after a push on Daniel McDaid inside the box. Daniel stepped up and struck a textbook penalty low into the corner of the net. The lead was doubled after Ronan Lafferty struck from long range and found the Eany net. Half time gave everyone a few mins to regroup and let all of the adults blood pressure settle ๐คฃ. The second half got underway and Donegal clearly had no intention of sitting on a 2:0 scoreline. After continued waves of pressure Jamie Henderson struck the ball across goal and a heavy deflection sent it beyond the Eany keeper and into the net. Eany never gave up and quickly followed this with a great header into the Donegal goal. The Donegal boys pushed back and Owen Pollard left the game beyond reach when he hit the net from just inside the Eany box. 4:1 was the final score and the celebrations commenced. Great to see this group lifting a trophy to end their season. The average age on this squad was 10 years old throughout the entire league campaign and they were competing against much bigger and older boys. As Gary Brogan always says "They have the hearts of lions" The season ended on a great note for the boys and we look forward to getting back into training for next season. The future is bright for this group ๐๐
Footage from our u12s dramatic penalty shootout victory in their Cup semi final last night. Itโs a quick turnaround for the lads as they participate in the Cup final tomorrow vs Eany Celtic. A victory tomorrow would be a brilliant testament to the fantastic season this young team have had considering they are a year young out of their age group! Good luck to Paul, Karl, Gary, George and all the boys!
Congrats to our u14 development team who made it five wins from five after a very tight match away to Cappry Rovers. Decided by a cooly taken Jay C. penalty in the first half it was another tough game for the boys who just about edged it on the day. Well done to a solid Cappry team and best of luck for the rest of the season.
Well done again to our fabulous chairman Raymond Jordan on his nomination and success on the RTร 2fm breakfast show this morning. Thanks to Raymond's hard work on helping get our underage girls back up and running again in the past two years, and his kind nomination by Sinead McGowan, the club now has โฌ1,000 for underage kits! Well done again Raymond and thanks for your continued hard work!
Well done to our Sunday team who recorded a hard earned 1-0 victory away to Kerrykeel in their final match of the season today. Declan Duignan was the match winner on the 60th minute. A minutes silence was observed before the match for Jonny Donaghy. Everyone at DTFC extends their deepest sympathy to the Donaghy family.
An absolute screamer in the 86th minute from Joe Leape when 3-1 down that kick started the sensational come back from our Saturday team in the Cup semi final on Wednesday night.
Jubilant scenes in Ballyare tonight as DTFC staged a heroic comeback to defeat KILMACRENNAN CELTIC FC on penalties 4-3 after a thrilling 3-3 draw. The lads went one behind 8 minutes in after a brilliant 25 yard strike from Danny Sandilands looped over Killian in the nets. The lads responded well and settled into the game and got back on level terms through a Slevin penalty after Glen Harron was brought down in the penalty box. It looked like it wasnโt to be for Town as Kilmac went 3-1 up mid way through the second half but DTFC showed remarkable resilience and a absolute beauty of a finish from Joe Leape on the 86th minute offered DTFC some hope and through passion and desire they forced the equaliser in injury time with club legend Declan Brown getting the crucial leveller. Extra time seen two tired teams give it their all in search of a winner but the resolute rearguard of both teams could not be broken and the game culminated in a penalty shoot out. Two brilliant saves from Faulkner in the DTFC nets ensured we qualified for the final. A Cup final to look forward to for the club in the next weeks with a date and time to be confirmed. Well done to the lads and management team on the brilliant comeback and the never say die attitude done the club proud today ๐๐
Slevin penalty gets DTFC back into the game in our Cup semi final vs Kilmacrennan. It is currently in the melting pot in the second half at 1-1. Cโmon the town!
Cracking free-kick from David Graham from the Saturday team's win versus Dunlewy yesterday at the Hospital Field.
Cool, calm and collected from Leape. Our Saturday teams 4th goal in their victory last weekend. A fantastic ball from Oisin Gorrell sets Barry McBrearty down the left wing and Barry does brilliantly to hold the ball up and deliver a fantastic pass into the oncoming Joe Leape who finishes with aplomb. Well done to Leape who has been firing in all cylinders in the no.9 position since rejoining the senior fold in January.
The crucial goal that put our Saturday team into a 2-1 lead last Saturday v Drumoghill. A sublime dead ball delivery from Ciaran OโReilly put it on a plate for Oisin Gorrell and Gorrell made no mistake to header home at the back post. Well done to Oisin and the goal is testament to the tremendous season he is having at the heart of our defence.
