Monday night was the top of the table clash between DTFC U12 Premier boys vs Cappry Rovers.
This game was always going to be a belter and it didn't disappoint. The first half was a back and forth affair with Donegal playing some great passing football on the ground whilst dealing with a lot of long balls coming the other way. Donegal suffered an early blow when Adam and Borys both had to retire early with injuries. Both teams came close on a couple of occasions but the first half ended scoreless.
Cappry went 1:0 up early in the first half when they were awarded a free just outside the box and found the far corner of the net. Shortly afterwards they were given a penalty when a shoulder was deemed to be too strong... They slotted the penalty into the net giving them a two goal lead. Donegal kept their heads up and created some chances playing the creative honest football we are so proud of. They threw everything at it but unfortunately it wasn't to be on the night.
We couldn't be prouder of this young team and as always they can walk away tonight proud of their performance and the style of football they play. Their first defeat this season to a well put together team. Our lads are proud to represent their home town every time they step on the pitch. On to the next one ๐ช๐ฆ
What a performance from our U12 girls team tonight, winning 1-0 away to a very strong Gweedore team. With a lot of the regulars missing, a few of the younger girls were called up.
Town's goal came 3 minutes from full time, with an Emmy strike. All girls from 1-9 can be so proud of their performance with the composed Emer in goal , Isla , Katelyn and Darcy in defence , Emmy , Abigail ,Jasmine , and Aoibhe impressing in midfield and Harper performing admirably as the lone striker. Well done all ๐๐
A busy week of boys and girls matches. Best of luck to all!
Massive thanks to everyone who helped out with the collection on the diamond yesterday and to everyone who supported it in making it successful Thank you much appreciated
Ryan Quinn bagged himself a goal and assist in Irelands first game against Scotland at the Associations Cup in Blackpool yesterday. He was also taken down in the penalty area awarding Ireland with a spot kick which helped push them to a 4-0 victory. Unfortunately Ryan came off injured in the first 10 minutes of their second game against Northern Ireland and hope he will be able to play Isle of Man later today. His U14 team and all at Donegal Town wish him luck for the rest of the tournament ๐ช๐ช
DTFC: 3 Castlefinn Celtic 1
Our U12 Premier team headed through the gap this morning looking to keep their unbeaten campaign on track.
The boys went on the offensive from the start and put Castlefinn under pressure. The breakthrough came mid way through the first half with Logan Morrow slotting it around the keeper.
This lead was doubled a few minutes later when Daniel McDaid rose high to deliver a beautiful header into the net. Castlefinn nicked one back in the second half after they latched onto a wayward clearance. Donegal responded quickly with Logan using his speed to beat the defenders and calmly slot it home. The game ended 3:1 and the boys now look to their big top table showdown with Cappry on Monday night. A special mention has to go to Reda who took on the captains role today in the absence of Ronan Lafferty. He played out of his skin and lead the team with 100% commitment.
If you are in town tomorrow you will see some friendly and familiar faces collecting money on the Diamond! Any money collected will be used for the running of the clubs underage teams.
Please support if you can. The club has never had as many teams, both boys and girls of all ages as it does now. Any money raised will go towards facilitating these teams and ensuring they have the facilities and equipment needed. Thanks for your continued support๐ต๐ฃ๐ต๐ฃ
Best of luck to Declan, Michael and Matthew Boyle and their crews as they compete in the Donegal International Rally this weekend from all at DTFC!

What a performance from our under 12 girls tonight, getting a 1-1 draw against a very fancied Keadue team. Town's goal coming from Emmy from all of 30 yards in the first half. Indeed, it was a very busy Keadue goal keeper in the 2nd half, with the girls almost grabbing a winner in last minute. Everybody from 1-12 put in a massive shift and should be very proud of their display. The girls are pictured below pulling some funny faces and being led by mascot Molly! ๐๐๐
Congratulations to our goal machine Declan Duignan who picked up First Division Top Scorer at the League dinner dance on Friday.
Playing with the Town almost 2 years, we have watched him turning into a player who is a massive threat to opposing defences. Hereโs hoping for another big season ahead! Well Done Declan ๐๐

In pictures: Great turnout for poignant occasion in Donegal to remember Decy Barr The late Declan Barr's family, teammates and friends were present for the unveiling of a plaque in his memory, which took place before the game between Decy's Dynamos and D'unbelieveables at Donegal Town FC
Conall and Ryan as they finished off the week on a high at the Kennedy Cup, winning a penalty shootout against Mayo.. It was just rewards for a great week if football.
Both lads played their part again with Ryan finishing off a great week for himself banging in the equaliser to take it to pens. The boys won 4 2 in the shootout. Well done Conall Ryan and all the boys and the coaches.. A week the lads will never forget and they have done DTFC proud...
RIP Dessie. Our thoughts are with his family and friends and the wider footballing community at this time. All underage matches are postponed until further notice. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam
It is with great sadness that we learned this evening of the passing of our treasurer Dessie Kelly.
Dessie dedicated so much of his time to game he loved. He was a founding member of Letterkenny Rovers in 1962 and was a player, manager, groundsman, fundraiser and administrator. As a manager, he led the club to historic back to back Donegal League titles along with Liam Blake in the 1980/81 and 1981/82 seasons.
Dessie held many notable roles within the football world. He was sitting treasurer on the executive of Donegal Underage League.
Dessie served as a long-time secretary of the Donegal Junior League and the Ulster Senior League while he also held various roles in the Donegal Womenโs League, Donegal Youth League, Letterkenny Northwest Schoolboys League over many decades.
He was also secretary of the Ulster Football Association.
In 2022, Dessie was very proud to be awarded honorary life membership of the Football Association of Ireland.
Our sincere condolences to his wife Annette and all the Kelly family at this sad time.
As a mark of respect all D.U.L squad activities will be stood down with immediate effect.
Hard luck to Ryan and Conall who both played their part in a narrow defeat to Limerick today. They play the Mayo League in their final match tomorrow hoping to finish the tournament on a high. Best of luck boys!
*Donegal Narrowly Defeated by Limerick District in Playoff Match*
On a breezy afternoon, Donegal Underage League faced Limerick District in the Kennedy Cup place playoffs. Limerick started strong, threatening frequently down the right wing.
Donegal's first chance came at 13 minutes, with Ryan Quinn setting up Ronan Ward, whose shot was saved. Limerick continued to press, and at 20 minutes, Sheahan shot wide.
Donegal grew into the game with efforts from Ronan Tinney, Eoin Doherty, and Shay McCauley, but the Limerick keeper was solid. The score remained 0-0 at halftime.
Limerick took the lead early in the second half with a goal from Sheahan. Donegal defended well and created several chances, including a shot from Ryan Quinn that hit the side netting and a close miss from Quinn after a great pass by Thalji Al Daher.
Despite their efforts, Donegal couldn't find the equalizer in another game that they will certainly feel the result didnโt reflect the quality of football and strong performance they gave.
Final Score: Limerick District 1 - 0 Donegal.
Final game for the squad is at noon tomorrow when they will face Mayo
On Wednesday evening Donegal Town U12 boys Premier team hosted Ballybofey Utd at the Hospital Pitch. The boys were looking to follow up on a resounding victory over Raphoe at the weekend.
The game started with Ballybofey looking very composed and playing some fantastic football, keeping in mind that they are one of the younger teams in this division. They were unfortunate to go 1:0 down after 7 mins when a menacing free kick from Daniel McDaid caused confusion in the box and a Ballybofey head helped it over the keeper and into the net. This was enough to jumpstart the Donegal lads into their stride and Hugo Flannery was on hand to score from a great ball courtesy of Logan Morrow.
The second half started with Donegal looking a lot more settled and it wasn't long before Logan broke through leaving him one on one with the keeper and his strike increased the lead to 3:0. Adam Monaghan then pulled off some sort of YouTube wizardry when his corner kick curled over the keeper and into the back corner of the net. Paul O Donnell was cool as a cucumber when the ball dropped to him on a counter attack and he slotted it home leaving the final score 5:0.
Ballybofey will certainly be a team to watch next season as most of this squad will be U12 next year and they have huge potential.
Six wins from six for the boys who were debuting their new kit which was kindly sponsored by Pierforce. We very much appreciate this support and know the boys will wear the jerseys with pride.
Hard luck to Ryan and Conall as they unluckily went down to a two nil defeat against Kildare. Both boys started with Conall playing a staring role as the number 8. The lads are back in action tomorrow and we wish them all the best๐๐
It wasn't to be our day in the Limerick sunshine. Well done to the team and coaches for doing us all proud. We look forward to another day of football tomorrow. โฝ๏ธ๐ฉ๐จโฝ๏ธ.
Well done to Conall and Ryan today at the Kennedy Cup!
The boys had a tough opening game to the day losing to North Eastern Counties, but got back to winning ways in the afternoon winning 2 1 against Carlow. Ryan was on the scoresheet again from the penalty spot and Conall came off the bench to make sure the lads saw out a crucial victory.
The boys qualify for the Bowl quarter finals now and they face Kildare tomorrow. Well done boys and good luck tomorrow.
2 - 1 victory this evening and it's into the Bowl Competition for D.U.L.
Well done to our u14 Development A side as they grabbed all 3 points against a much improved Eany Celtic on Sunday morning. It was one all at half time which was a fair reflection on the game.
Donegal got a second early in the half and it was tight until the last 20 mins when they added another 3 to win the game 5-1.
A hat- trick from Sasha and goals from Josh Brennan and Dylan Mc Fadden.
Best for Donegal were Tom Erskine, Senan Melly, Daniel Monaghan and M.O.T.M Sasha. Massive well done to the lads as they now have five wins from their first five matches. Next up is a home fixture against Ballybofey Utd on Sunday morning๐๐
A great start for Donegal in the Kennedy Cup beating Inishowen 3-1 with a hatrick from our club player Ryan Quinn(left).Teammate Conal Parsons also part of the team. Well done lads ๐๐๐ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฉ๐จ
A reminder that our day for Declan Barr takes place this Saturday. Would be great to see a big turnout to honour Decy
๐ต๐ฃ๐ต๐ฃDAY FOR DECY ๐ฃ๐ต๐ฃ๐ต
This time last year we lost a true legend of our club. Declan Barr contributed so much for DTFC though the years on and off the pitch.
On June 15th we honour the great man in what promises to be a fantastic day down at the Hospital pitch. Many of his old teammates and friends will be dusting off the boots one more time for a charity match from 1pm, with all prcedes going to Solace Cancer Support Centre and Donegal Family Resource Centre.
We will also be unveiling a plaque in Decy's honour. It promises to be a great occasion so please show your support!
The club wishes our 2 players Ryan Quinn and Conal Parsons the very best of luck this week at the Kennedy Cup competition in Limerick. A tigerish midfielder and a centre forward, the two lads will get to mix it with the best players in Ireland. Enjoy the experience lads ๐๐๐

Donegal Town FC - Founded 1970
Donegal Town FC was founded in 1970 after the amalgamation of a number of local clubs. Initially Ballydevitt Rangers, Donegal Celtic, and Killymard Utd merged to form Donegal Dynamos F.C. in 1969.
Then, in early 1970, a meeting was convened in the Cinema Rooms, and included representatives from Magees Factory soccer team, the Youth Club team, and Donegal Dynamos F.C. A unanimous decision was taken to amalgamate these three clubs into one. Donegal Town F.C. was born...
