Anima Lunar Collective
Anima Lunar Collective prides itself in collaborating with a collective aim to create the right space for our clients.
We go beyond concrete elements of design in order to fully establish how we can create the right home or workspace.
What do you love about your home or workspace?
This is an invitation for you to shift your perspective to focus on what is working for you in your home, workspace, and environment. What is it that draws you to these places you love, what is it about these places that allows you to deeply enjoy being there? Once you begin to identify any of these qualities or properties, you can begin to amplify them into other areas of your space.

What does your space say about you?
If our space, rooms, and home reflect our mind, are you happy with how it feels? Are there any micro-adjustments you can make to feel more empowered and in-tune with your living environment? Sometimes this can be a simple as clearing away that pile of clutter that keeps catching the corner of your eye or maybe you can shift your furniture around to create a different flow in the space.

Can your interior spaces impact your wellbeing?
There is an ever-building body of research showing that our interior spaces can impact our well-being. An early study for this was carried out by Roger Ulrich in the 1984 ‘View Through a Window May Influence Recovery from Surgery,’ this was a study on patients who had views from their hospital bed of nature. These patients were reported to have shorter hospitalisation times, take less medication, and have fewer negative nurse notes. Environmental psychologists study the relationship between human behaviour and the environment that surrounds them.
How do you re-energise in your home?
Having a intentional space that you can go to in your home, to unwind and let go, can help you recharge your energy. Create a safe place where you can tune into yourself and let in the nourishment your body is possibly craving. Allow yourself to feel held by the space around you.

What can you let go of and what can you let in?
Look out for any area in your home or workplace that begins to cause you stress, life can be hard enough without having the place you are meant to feel most at one with also stressing you out. It might be there is too much happening in that space, there might be too much 'stuff' there. See where you can pull back and let go, in the that space. Then can you wonder from a place of 'emptiness' what wants to be brought in?

What space do you want to create for yourself?
When we have a clear intention around how we want to use our rooms and spaces this allows us to connect deeper into our spaces. When there is more clarity, this allows for more focus.
Do you find you have some rooms in your home or workspace that you actually don't know what purpose they serve?

Coming home, where is the special place that you resonate most with in your home?
Do you feel energised and engaged when you are connecting with others in your living or dining room? Is it that relaxed feeling you get when you enter your bedroom, and your body knows it is time for rest and a chance to refuel.
Each space in our home can connect with the mental and physical states we want to be in if we intentionally plan out our home or workspace.

What do you want to open your doors to in 2023?
Are there little changes you can make to your home to enhance your feeling of wellbeing? Maybe you can carve out a little time to sort through the pile of stuff that’s been sitting in the corner of the room for the last few months. Maybe you can make space in your wardrobe by donating items that don’t serve you anymore.
Letting go of excess stuff allows you to free up space, mentally and physical.
You can use this New Year to begin to, step by step to open your doors and reconnect with your space.
Sending you all love and well wishes for 2023

How do colours, shapes and objects effect our wellbeing?
This is something I am very curious about and always looking to understand more. As part of this research, I started a project with to understand how our subtle senses our impacted by our environment, here is a mood board for a living room in the series from a VR Sensory experience project.
This will be a fun experiment to understand what impacts/effects how we feel in a space.

Are you happy with your lighting?
Good lighting can really lift a space. It can enhance all the rich colours and really set the mood for the room.
When we understand lighting and the different colour temperatures that are available, we can use this to simulate the natural cycle of light and let the light choices align to our circadian rhythm.
Have blue and white light for task lighting and warmer red lighting for low level evening lights.

How do you make the most of a small space?
In this shower room, we optimised the space by carefully setting out and measuring each of the elements. We focused on the value items such as the shower and space for the WC to ensure these areas prioritised the usable space. A recessed niche in the shower and storage under the vanity are other useful ways to bring in storage.
Having a well thought out room can reduce feeling of stress and anxiety when using the space. This can reduce or eliminate clutter and your room will have a clear purpose.

How can you make environmentally conscious choice when decorating your home?
When we are looking for sustainable solutions, there are a lot of little things we can do to make the right choice.
Research the companies you are buying from or speak to your local makers. Find out what their values are, how they choose to do business. If these align with what you what to bring into the world, you won’t hesitate to support them.
For these shelves, I used a local craftsman who actively seeks out naturally felled Irish native timber where possible. The brackets are made from whose company mission is to make sustainable furniture; well designed, well-made and built-to-last.
These options are available to us, it’s up to us to support them.

How do you get your ideas out of your head?
I love hand sketches, drawing whatever comes to mind, allowing for complete creative flow. This lets the ideas pour out and then you can begin to review and refine.

Do you ever feel out of alignment with your home or workplace?
Sometimes we can get out of alignment with our home or workplace, clutter can become too overwhelming. A lack of proper lighting or a distain for certain colour choice can eat away at you. Think of those rooms that you have forgotten about, the ones that are now starting to feel oppressive any time you enter them.
Feeling at peace in our home can benefit our sense of wellbeing and our ability to focus. We can achieve this by re-establishing our relationship with the different element and items in the space. Taking back ownership of the rooms and regaining order and balance.

What’s your favourite material to use in your home?
I love wood, each piece of timber tells it’s unique story. All the characteristics of each type of timber tell you something new. They all have different properties that we can understand and work with to make the most of this precious material.

How are you spending your weekend?
Try find some time for fun and self-care, include a healthy balance.
Balance is key in all aspects of our life; in design it acts as a visual stabiliser a space. The definition of balance describes it as the harmonious arrangement of components. It ensures that no single element in a room overpowers another.
