Another year in the books!

Massive congratulations to all involved - time to rest up 😴

What an amazing 12 days it has been! 🎶 We were thrilled to host new competitions, new venues, new partners and new faces in 2024.
We want to thank all of you who attended and competed, and the adjudicators who come from far and wide. Thanks to the dedicated parents, guardians and music teachers that do so much to prepare our young musicians for their big day(s).
We are so grateful for our army of dedicated volunteers and our volunteer coordinator Anna McCabe; the Feis could not exist without you.

We are delighted to play our part in this year's 128th Feis Ceoil 🎼

Spanning over 12 days, the Feis Ceoil competitions showcase a broad spectrum of classical music talents, from soloists and singers to choirs and orchestras.

As always, we will provide Steinway & Sons and Kawai Pianos for competitors and accompanists in all 4 venues here in Dublin.

However, this year we look forward to providing Kawai Hybrid Pianos, allowing pianists to prepare for their big moment without distraction!

As Ireland's exclusive Yamaha Disklavier Dealer, we thought we knew all there was to know about these instruments.

However, we were delighted to learn of a spectacular artist stretching the bounds of what we thought was possible.

Meet Alfonso Peduto, the Yamaha Artist using every bit of his Disklavier Grand Piano.

Here we see Alfonso using delay, an echo effect made popular in rock music by guitarists (Welcome to the Jungle, Where The Streets Have No Name, etc.)

However, while artists would previously use effects pedals to create echoes, Alfonso is using his Disklavier to its full potential to create 'Realtime Delay'. We will do our best to explain how this is achieved in layman's terms..

Upon striking the key, the hammer strikes the string (nothing unusual there) but simultaneously triggers a sensor built into these Disklavier Pianos, sending information to its onboard computer. The computer then 'plays' the key again, matching Alfonso's touch precisely, just a semiquaver later.

To the listener, this gives the effect of many pianos playing at once, all from only two hands and one piano. Simply staggering stuff...
