Q: How are you getting on in the gym?

I am really enjoying the gym. It's been a really good fit for me and it's a totally different gym experience than I've had previously. I hadn't been to a gym in years. Being able to book my sessions in advance helps me to plan my week. The coaches are these to push you and there is no wasted time waiting around for machines. I find the gym is really welcoming, down to each and it's an efficient use of my time.
All the Coaches are personable and approachable to answer any questions. I love that it is a personalised training programme in terms of training and nutrition and there is a focus on long term health and goals. I am enjoying learning more about good nutrition also.

Q: What were your worries before starting and have they changed?

My main worry before starting was my own commitment. I have joined gyms previously and I'm good for a short while and then it falls away. With GNS I can book my PT sessions and classes in advance. I book into early sessions ( and I am not a morning person) to avoid the excuses that arise during the day when balancing work and family.

Honor has been brilliant for encouragement and keeping me on track and consistent over the weeks with check-ins and in the gym. Realistic goals are set and your plan can be adapted to line up with these goals where necessary. The coaches re there with you along your journey.

Q: Any words of encouragement you would give to someone who wants to start their fitness journey?

Just do it. Leave the fears aside. I am so glad I started this journey with GNS and didn't make excuses and now only 6 weeks later I feel so much better. I have lost weight, got more toned, developed a better sleeping pattern and have a lot more energy. Just generally more in control.

Hear what Cathy had to say about our 12 Week Lift Off Challenge 👇

The app is easy to use and is a nice way of tracking progress without getting too caught up in the numbers.
They take a more realistic and holistic view of things rather than just focusing on calories which I think worked best for me.

I lost more than 8% body weight in those 12 weeks and went from a BMI of 27 to a BMI of 24. I love how much stronger and confident I feel after the liftoff programme.

The gym environment is friendly and you really feel like you’re involved in your own goal setting and workout routines. I was recovering from wrist surgery and they adapted the workouts to facilitate my recovery.

I’ve stayed on as a gym member now and I’m still progressing and improving and GNS feels like just another constant in my life now.

I am just finishing the 12 week lift off programme with Honor in GNS leixlip.

I find the training enjoyable yet challenging.

The trainers push you to progress but also will adapt exercises to ensure you don’t strain a muscle previous injury.

I recently had a baby so this was my first return to exercise, I was worried about how my new body would cope in the gym. However Honor, Ryan, Jaeger and Shane will check your form and adapt any exercises as necessary.

Having the weekly check ins with Honor has been great help, providing support and advice on how to progress while understanding current challenges outside of the gym.

Thanks so much for everything! I look forward to continuing coming to GNS.

Most of the hacks and tricks you’ll find will just result in either giving up or regaining the weight.

It comes down to being in a calorie deficit.

All of the things that put you in that deficit are just simple habits.

The more consistent you can be with these basics, the better your results will be…And the more likely you are to KEEP those results.

So before going on Google or YouTube to research another supplement, diet or workout, save yourself the time and either get a workout in, prepare a healthy meal or go to bed a bit earlier.

All of those fancy tricks are just distracting you from actually doing the work 😉

I was worried I wouldn’t meet all the training sessions and steps per day but I have not missed a PT session in 12 weeks. That is my greatest achievement after 3 years of lack of exercise.

Feeling fitter and holding a routine feels amazing. I also achieved the steps per day on a consistent basis and enjoy doing my daily exercise now.

I have lost weight and toned up. I fit into clothes I couldn’t wear 12 weeks ago and really want to keep my PTs going forward and continue my journey.
