Like many, I was very sorry to hear the sad news yesterday that one of Ireland's Leading singer songwriters Shane Mac Gowan had passed away.

Shane was an incredibly talented and gifted singer, songwriter and his songs will continue to be heard for many more generations.

My sincere sympathy goes out to his wife Victoria, his sister Siobhan and his father, Maurice, and to his family and large circle of friends.

Rest in peace Shane until we meet again,

Tonight I will be in Knock Shrine and I am looking forward to it. I want to also tell you about some other Candlelight shows that are happening and I would love to see some of you at these very special events.

On Sunday evening 3rd of December - I will be at St Crona's Church in Dunglow in Donegal.

On Sunday 10th of December - I will be at St Maman's Church in Clonaslee in Co. Laois.

On Sunday 17th of December - I will be at St. Patrick's Church in Portlaw. I understand this one is sold out.

Some days there are no words and today is one of those days for all of us in the Country Music Scene.

In the early hours of this morning a very talented and gifted young man lost his life in a road traffic collision. Christopher Bradley was a young man who had a kind word for everyone. I can only imagine the pain, the suffering and the shock and sadness that his wife Gabrielle and their beautiful kids Darcey and Brogan, his mum and dad Mario and Monica and his siblings Liam, Fiona, Dermot and Laura, his mother in law and father in law Gabriel and Donna McGilligan and all his family and many friends are experiencing this evening. I want to extend my sympathy also to my good friend Declan Nerney and all the band and team on such a tragic loss.

Christopher backed me on the drums on many occasions and we had great fun and I have great memories of a beautiful and kind young man which I will hold dearly in my heart.

Please keep Christopher and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

I am so looking forward to you tuning into the The Late Late Show tonight for the Country Music Special, the last one with our dear friend Ryan Tubridy at 9.35pm on RTÉ One. Daniel O'Donnell, Nathan Carter Music , Cliona Hagan and myself will be unveiling a great new project.

Also at 10.40pm Join me on BBC 1 For Keepin 'er Country where we look back at my 80th Birthday Celebrations. Hope you can watch both programmes on this Friday night.

I will be on The Six O'Clock Show just after 6pm on Virgin Media this evening with Karen and Greg. Looking forward to having a chat and presenting the duo with an award from Hugh O Brien Hot Country ahead of the awards.
