It's World Brain Day!

Today is World Brain Day and the theme for 2024 is 'Brain Health and Prevention'. We at NAI are delighted to show our support and to spread awareness for the 800,000+ people living in Ireland with a neurological condition.

gives us an opportunity to look back on a jam packed Brain Awareness Week, which took place from March 11th to 17th. It is one of our key annual awareness campaigns and it brings together the wider neurological community throughout Ireland. Together, we promote greater awareness and understanding of the impact of living with a neurological condition, as well as the need for investment in services, research and prevention.

Have you had a stroke? See below an invitation to a survey for people with stroke to describe the effect of the stroke on them and their journey, the supports they received and what they feel are priorities for a life after stroke pathway.

Dear participant,

You are invited to take part in a survey which is part of the CLASP project (Codesigning a Life after Stroke Pathway). We want to hear about how your stroke affected you, the treatment and supports that you needed, your recovery and what you think is a priority to support life after stroke.

We invite you to participate in a short online anonymised survey, please read our study information leaflet when you click on the survey link. If you agree to participate, the survey will take no more than 15-20 minutes to complete.

Check out what Headway Cork staff and clients have been up to! One of the challenges many people face after a brain injury is keeping up their physical activity. This is exactly the goal of our innovative Neurofunctional Training Programme (NFTP). This video explains the programme and its positive impact on survivors of stroke and other acquired brain injuries.

The project is a collaboration between Headway Cork, HSE physiotherapists from Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, Cork Sports Partnership and staff from Mayfield Sports Complex. Thanks to Taidgh Richards for his brilliant work on the video.
