Bezlo World is on a mission to design fun STEM-inspired clothing that encourages, educates, and empo We design with a specific girl in mind –a Bezlo Girl.
She's a free spirit who loves exploring the world around her. She loves building forts and solving mysteries, and she dreams of flying in space. With a positive mindset and a love of STEM, she’s on a mission to solve some of the world’s greatest challenges. She is brilliant, confident, smart, strong, and brave. There was no word to describe her, so we had to invent one. Hello, World! This is Bezlo.
My little girl was sick recently with one of those winter bugs that are going around 😷 We spend a day cuddling on the couch watching tv and it really hit me that there could be more educational themed tv shows. Sharing this post from our friends at 💛

Hello, World 🌎! We’ve got a major update here! We’ve been working behind the scenes to reinvent 🔧 our brand and we are now preparing our systems for a relaunch 🚀!!!
👩🚀 But our mission remains the same! We are passionate about getting girls excited about at young ages, by allowing them to express their interests through clothing! Get ready for the next phase of Bezlo✨…coming September 28th 🤗.
Happy Pi Day! It’s our favorite day of the year 😍
🥧
While the concept of pi may seem a bit confusing at first, we assure you that you’re never too young to start learning about pi. Pi’s most commonly-used estimated value is 3.14, but this is just an approximation. Pi is a special type of number, called an irrational number, which means that the numbers after the decimal point go on and on FOREVER without repeating! As a fun Pi Day activity, challenge your Bezlo Girl to memorize as many digits of Pi as you can. Then, have them challenge others to a competition to see who remembered the most digits!
Ada Lovelace (1815-1852)
Ada Lovelace was an English mathematician and writer who is known for publishing the first algorithm intended to be carried out by a computer. Because of this, she is often regarded as one of the first computer programmers ever!
💻
Despite being the daughter of the famous poet Lord Byron, she turned to mathematics as her passion, working with Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine, the first general-purpose computer ever.
💻
Ada’s history continues to live on today. Every year on the second Tuesday of October, people around the world celebrate the achievements of . The day is also used to spread awareness of new role models in STEM, to encourage more girls into STEM careers, and to support women already working in STEM 💪.
Sophie Germain (1776-1831) is our second feature for our series!
🇫🇷
Sophie Germain was a French mathematician, physicist, and philosopher who proved more than just number theory proofs...she proved that women were capable of being brilliant mathematicians too. At the time that she lived, girls and women were not allowed to have a formal education. She had to read the books in her father's library to feed her curiosity for math.
🇫🇷
When Sophie was 18, a new university opened in Paris. Since women were not allowed to attend, Sophie registered under a man's name, Monsieur Antoine-August Le Blanc. Without ever going to class in person, she was able to study by reviewing the lecture notes. When her teacher asked to meet with his student, he finally discovered Sophie's true identity as a woman. However, he continued to be her mentor because of her unique mathematical talents.
🇫🇷
Although the most talented mathematicians of her time recognized Sophie's gifts, she was continuously denied opportunities and recognition simply because she was a woman. The Eiffel Tower in Paris would not have been built without her contributions to the study of elasticity. Engraved on the tower are the names of 72 male architects who contributed to its construction. However, Sophie Germain's name is not included, which speaks volumes about how women in mathematics were viewed at the time.
Hypatia of Alexandria - ( c.355-415 AD)
💛
We’re starting our posts with Hypatia, one of the earliest known female mathematicians in the world! She is famous for her knowledge of mathematics, philosophy, and astronomy. Hypatia was the daughter of Theon, a highly-respected mathematician and astronomer in Alexandria (which is now in modern day Egypt).
💛
Soon enough, her knowledge of mathematics and astronomy surpassed that of her father, and much of her work was through collaborations with him. Her major contributions came through her mathematics lessons which were rooted in the philosophical teachings of Plato, Aristotle, and Plotinus, as well as the mathematician Pythagoras. Under this school of Neoplatanism, mathematics was spiritual and was divided into four branches: arithmetic, geometry, astronomy, and music.
💛
Hypatia unfortunately lived during a time of political and religious unrest, and her life ended tragically. Her legacy still lives on today as a feminist and a pioneer for women in math at a time when it wasn't popular for women to work.
Happy to all our Bezlo Girls and Bezlo Moms!✨

How can you celebrate today?
💜 Wear purple to unite with people all over the world and show your support! Purple symbolizes women, justice, and dignity.
👧 Enroll in a learning program centered on involving girls in STEM! Some of our favorites are , .codes, , , and .
👩💻 Research a woman that inspires you. She could be a famous scientist, astronaut, businesswoman, artist, politician, or activist that changed history. Or you could interview a woman you know who inspires you daily: a teacher, a doctor, an aunt, cousin, or even your mom! And stay tuned for our posts kicking off this week for more inspiration 👀.
✌️
Although it is important to acknowledge the accomplishments of women EVERY day, today is just one of the days we unite and celebrate amazing women and girls all over the world 👧🏽👱🏻♀️👩🏾🦱🧕🏽👩🏻👵🏽.
It’s and we want to show Bezlo Girls that ✨ (yes, we love our math puns 😂).
✨
Stay tuned for posts about throughout the month of March! Do you have any requests or guesses on who we’re going to feature? 👇 Let us know!
Anyone watch the on Thursday?! What an amazing feat by 👏🏼! We can’t wait to learn about the new discoveries this will bring as we continue to search for signs of life on other planets! 🤗
🎉
We’d also love to highlight Breanna Ivey as a role model 🙌🏼, who worked as an intern on the mathematical calculations that help the rover move. We saw her interview on and just had to share her inspirational words of wisdom for boys and girls of color who are interested in STEM:
1. “Always trust your journey and your process no matter what obstacles you may encounter or odds that are stacked against you because you have all the tools to be successful and you are capable.”
2. “Always know that you belong in whatever space you step foot in. Every conversation that’s being had, every table that you sit at —you have something important to say and you are VALUABLE.”
For anyone who needs a burst of energy on this Monday, here it is 😪⚡️🔋💡. We here at HB could definitely use a second cup of coffee as we work on our new STEM-inspired designs ☕️. Can’t wait for you to see the upgraded Bezlo 2.0 🤗✨!
Happy 🔭🧫🧪🔬🧬! Today, and every day, we celebrate the accomplishments of and encourage girls to be curious about science, technology, engineering, and math. It is our mission to allow young girls to proudly show off their love of STEM!
🧪
We are currently working on some new designs coming your way SOON! 👀 Drop a comment to let us know what designs you’d love to see! 👇
! Have you heard of mathematician Annie Easley?
She was one of the first African-Americans to work as a computer scientist at NASA🚀! (image & caption from nasa.gov).
💻
“In 1955, Easley began her career as a ‘human computer,’ analyzing problems and doing calculations by hand. Her earliest work involved running simulations for the newly planned Plum Brook Reactor Facility. When hired, she was 1 of only 4 African-American employees at the Lab. In a 2001 interview, she said that she had never set out to be a pioneer. “I just have my own attitude. I’m out here to get the job done, and I knew I had the ability to do it, and that’s where my focus was.” Even in the face of discrimination, she persevered. “My head is not in the sand. But my thing is, if I can’t work with you, I will work around you. I was not about to be [so] discouraged that I’d walk away. That may be a solution for some people, but it’s not mine.”
💻
When human computers were replaced by machines, Easley evolved along with the technology. She became an adept computer programmer, using languages like the Formula Translating System (Fortran) and the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) to support several NASA programs. She developed and implemented code used in researching energy-conversion systems, analyzing alternative power technology—including the battery technology used for early hybrid vehicles, as well as for the Centaur upper-stage rocket.
💻
In the ‘70s, she returned to school to earn her degree in mathematics while working full time. A firm believer in education and in her mother’s advice “You can be anything you want to be, but you have to work at it,” Easley was very dedicated in her outreach efforts at NASA. She not only participated in school tutoring programs but was a very active participant in the speaker’s bureau, telling students about NASA’s work and inspiring especially female and minority students to consider STEM careers.
💻
Later in her career, she took on the additional role of equal employment opportunity counselor, helping supervisors address issues of gender, race, and age in discrimination complaints.”
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves ☺️. Many people wonder where the word “Bezlo” came from —well, we made it up! There was no word that captured every aspect of the girl we are designing for...so we invented one 😅. (Moral of the story: if it doesn’t exist, make it yourself! 💪🏼✨)
Today, on Benjamin Franklin’s birthday, we celebrate National Kid Inventor’s Day!
💡
Just because kids are young doesn’t mean they aren’t full of creative ideas 🧠. Some of the fun things kids still use today were invented by young minds like trampolines, popsicles, and swim flippers. But kids are also capable of inventing things that can change the world for the better. The Braille language was invented by a young teen who was blind himself. It is now used worldwide as the alphabetic reading and writing system for those who are visually impaired.
💡
Today, we encourage you and your child to research some of their favorite inventions and learn about the history behind who invented them, how the ideas came up, and how the process of inventing them went. You might find that inventions were stumbled upon by mistake, or that they took a lot of time and perseverance. By learning about the inventions of others, kids will see that they, too, have the potential to create things that will change the world 🌎. And they will also see examples of real people who never gave up on their amazing ideas!
