The first step in moving towards a healthier response is to notice and observe when you drop your boundaries. With a clearer understanding of any codependent patterns, you may develop a more compassionate view of your own needs.

Today is International Non-Binary Day.
Let's celebrate non-binary people and commit to including non-binary rights in our collective fight for dignity and respect.
To all non-binary people: we see you, we hear you, we celebrate you, and we support you.
If there wasn't so much controversy around Better Help and their lack of screening, I'd be happy to promote them. But it doesn't take from the fact their core message and adverts are great.
There were so many times when I felt like "Sam" in the past 18mths. Sadly while I've come out the other side I'm aware that others are hitting that same wall right now! So I do want to give a shout out to all the "Sams" to say your experience is valid and you deserve a space to be heard. You're not alone.

Well done to the team at Insight Matters for putting this together. What a wonderful, open and welcoming clip. It serves to remind us that they are here and work to fully support the mental health of everyone within the LGBTQI+ Community.
As a Frontline Healthcare Worker working in a patient facing setting I was fully vaccinated this year. This was not only for my own safety, but to ensure additional protection for anyone referred to and attending my practice.
I feel very privileged to have been offered a vaccine at no personal cost in Ireland. Therefore has donated to & UNICEF's "Get a Vaccine / Give a Vaccine" campaign so that others may also have the choice and opportunity to receive a vaccine. (€5 = 1xVaccine)
Get a Vaccine, Give a Vaccine | COVID-19 Appeal | UNICEF Ireland UNICEF is delivering 2 billion COVID-19 vaccines to the most vulnerable families, health workers and high-risk people on our planet. Click to learn more.
Whilst my diary has been fully booked since Feb, I am still available online to answer any queries or make a referral to a suitable service https://kellycounselling.ie/contact or email [email protected]
Great Article from the this week with tips on how to manage
We're not robots or machines, we're simply human! For my own practice I regularly need to book off at least a week or two every quarter. To do this I always provide at least a month notice and will ensure all clients and patients are supported over any break in appointments.
Your family, employer, colleagues, friends and loved ones need you at your best. Self-Care is not Selfish! Mind yourself and your mental health by listening to your body and limitations. Support is available if this is a struggle right now.
Pandemic burnout: Irritable, tired, overwhelmed? Here’s what to do about it The past year has put increased demands on people trying to figure out a new way of working
"In the Covid-19 group, researchers found anxiety disorders occurred among 17% of all patients, while 14% developed mood disorders, 7% had substance misuse disorders and 5% insomnia."
Covid link to greater risk of mental health conditions Contracting Covid-19 is "robustly associated" with an increased risk of developing mental health and neurological conditions in the six months after a diagnosis, a study suggests.
Today is "Transgender Day of Visibility", so I'd like to make a pressing issue affecting our Trans Community in Ireland more visible if possible.
This time last year we were looking at waiting lists in excess of 2yrs at the National Gender Service in Loughlinstown for Adults. This year that list has now extended to 3yrs due to staff/role changes and cancelled appointments due to Covid-19. To add to this catastrophe, in the past few months services for minors have been halted altogether resulting in possible waiting lists of up to 5yrs (2yrs on the non-existant adolescent list before being transferred over to the adult waiting list for 3yrs+). These waiting times are deeply distressing to endure as I have witnessed the crisis and despair and sense of hopelessness in so many in recent months.
A Committee was formed to examine the gaps in services here in Ireland and many positive actions were proposed in their final report (link below). However in anticipation of these revised services being put in place our existing services were pulled prematurely thus leaving a huge gap in services. The Trans Community needs appropriate access to healthcare as a matter of urgency. They are not an invisible part of society to be brushed aside. These are our students, co-workers, friends, clients, family members, neighbours and loved ones.
