Over the last few years, Saint Patrick’s has sent several of our Girl Choristers to Armagh to join with choristers from Cathedrals and Parishes from across the island of Ireland as part of the Charles Wood Girls’ Choir. This year we sent 6 of our girls to attend the weeklong course which was directed by Christopher Gray, the director of music at Saint John’s College, Cambridge, and by all accounts a good time was had by all. We’ll let one of our own fill you in on what they got up to…..
"This summer we went to Armagh to sing for a week and we did a lot of fun things too! We, of course, sang every day, we would have four rehearsals per day and we did three concerts! We went to the cinema, and we also watched two movies at the place where we were sleeping. We also went to get ice cream and had a very fun treasure hunt! To sum it all up we all had a very fun time!"

Our Dean, Dr William Morton, cordially invites you to his FREE lunchtime lecture as part of Heritage Week this Friday 23rd Aug at 1.15pm.
Dr Morton will explore the early life and social context of arguably the most gifted composer to come out of Ireland, Charles Villiers Stanford.
With the help of Stanford’s own writings, and the oral tradition which forms a precious part of our Irish heritage, Dr Morton’s talk will focus on Stanford’s engagement with Dublin’s two Anglican cathedrals, the influence of Irish folk music in some of his compositions, and his superb contribution to Anglican church music.
