Congratulations to one half of our writer and director duo, Al Porter, on his sell out work in progress tour around Ireland! Along with Ryan Andrews, Al writes hilarious scripts for our Panto every Christmas for many years now and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for us this year!

Last night I performed the final gig on my work in progress tour, in Killarney, and best of all, I was reunited with my friend Nanny Pat from my radio show years ago, who came for her 90th birthday! She and I shared a big hug, had a great catch up after, and it was the perfect end to this tour.

These were by far the best gigs I’ve ever done. The venues went from big to very small, from pubs and cafes to petrol stations and some theatres too.

This time around, though, I can appreciate just how lucky I am to do what I love and I don’t take any gig for granted. I am so grateful for the chance to perform again. On stage, the new material has really come together, and the response has been fantastic, with 25 sold out dates which I was really surprised by.

Off stage, it’s been a great opportunity to show people who I am today. As I say on stage, you don’t move on from your past, you move on with it and take the lessons you learned with you. Thank you to everyone I’ve met on the road — the audiences, the venues, their crew and the comedians who did support for me, especially Joe Dowlin from Tallaght who is hilarious and has driven the length and breadth of Ireland with me.

I can’t wait for people to see the finished show later this year! And obviously, thank you everyone who came to these shows. It means the world to me.

That’s the last Irish gigs for awhile but I’d like to hone the show a bit more, so next stop I’m going back to Edinburgh Fringe! I always loved the Edinburgh festival and thanks to my manager Stuart O Connor, Debi Allen my agent and producer John Mackay, I’ll be going back this year for my first fringe show in six years (link below)! I can’t wait.
