🎸 Rory Gallagher’s guitar’s have arrived here at the Irish Rock Museum 🎸
Here are Bryan & Alan showing off our new museum additions. Now to figure out where to display them 😅
Huge news - The Irish Rock n Roll Museum are taking home not 1 but 3 of Rory’s guitars! 🎸
We are so honoured to have the opportunity to showcase 3 of Rory Gallaghers guitars to all our visitors after securing them from The Rory Gallagher Collection Auction at Bonhams!
Among these treasures is Gallagher’s iconic 1959 Gretsch Chet Atkins PX6121, electric guitar, which he used on his 1990 album Fresh Evidence for the tracks “Middle Name” and “The King of Zydeco.” This legendary instrument now takes its rightful place in the museum’s permanent collection.
In addition to the Gretsch, the museum is proud to have also acquired Gallagher’s Mosrite Joe Maphis Doubleneck Electric Guitar, circa 1968, and his 1978 Ibanez MC500DS Electric Guitar. These instruments, which were integral to Gallagher’s evolving sound and unique playing style, now join our growing collection of Irish rock history.
Keep your eyes peeled as we welcome these fabulous additions to the museum ❤️

🎶Remembering Philip Chevron 🎶
A veteran of The Radiators from Space and The Pogues, Philip Chevron was a key figure in Dublin’s music scene. Best known for penning the iconic “Thousands Are Sailing,” a poignant anthem of Irish emigration, his legacy continues to resonate worldwide. Sinead O’Connor once called him “one of the greatest Irish songwriters of all time.”
Chevron, who was openly gay, also wrote “Under Clery’s Clock,” an anti-homophobia anthem performed at an AIDS benefit in 1987. His music and activism left an indelible mark on Irish culture.
🎸🎶 Happy International U2 Day! 🎶🎸
On this day in 1976, Bono, Larry, Adam, and The Edge came together for the first time as a band. They weren’t alone though—The Edge had brought his brother Dik along, and another kid Ivan McCormick even marked in his diary that he “joined a pop group with friends.” That group? None other than the legendary U2!
To celebrate their incredible journey, we’ve got a whole room dedicated to U2 at the Irish Rock'n'Roll Museum Experience. Come check out the memorabilia and dive into the history of one of Ireland's greatest bands! 🇮🇪🎵

🎸 Happy Birthday to the original guitarist of Thin Lizzy, Eric Bell 🎸
Born in Belfast on September 3, 1947, Eric Bell's early career saw him play with local Belfast bands (including the last iteration of Them featuring Van Morrison) before heading to Dublin and forming the legendary Thin Lizzy with Phil Lynott in 1969. As the lead guitarist, Bell contributed to the band's first three albums and co-wrote hits like "The Rocker" and the iconic "Whiskey in the Jar."
After leaving Thin Lizzy in 1973, Bell's musical journey continued with the Noel Redding Band and blues rock ensemble Mainsqueeze. Today, he's still rocking with the Eric Bell Band, keeping the spirit of classic rock alive. 🎶
