It was so nice to catch up with old & new friends. The final amount we raised was €1225.00 and i had the pleasure of meeting Brendan Stephenson during the week from when I was able to present him with the cheque.

We've had such an incredible response to the film and soundtrack that we decided to have a local showing of it!!!

So many people missed our big night at the NCH, so it will be an opportunity to see what all the fuss was about 😆 and watch the gorgeous film of violin maker Jim Mc Killop made by my brother, Patrick Conway.

From a Forest to a Fiddle

Experience the enchantment of craftsmanship and music with From a Forest to a Fiddle. This mesmerizing art-film which recently screened at the National Concert Hall captures Jim McKillop as he breathes life into wood, creating a fiddle in his rural workshop for the last time. The process was filmed by Filmmaker Patrick Conway over six months, revealing the alchemy behind each violin.

The film features a soundtrack of Zoë Conway’s own score, performed by Zoë on fiddle and John McIntyre on guitar and was inspired by the ancient ogham Irish alphabet, where each letter represents a native Irish tree, as well as a new Irish translation of a poem by renowned Dubliners fiddler, John Sheahan.

The screening will be followed by a live performance by Zoë and John and audiences can enjoy an exhibition in the foyer of An Táin Arts Centre before and after the show by artist Claire McAteer. The body of work is inspired by the film From a Forest to a Fiddle and explores music, shape, colour and texture from drawn printed collaged or painted images of trees, forest and instruments through to a piece entitled The Maker depicting Jim in his studio deep in his process.

A huge thank you to everyone who came yesterday to our coffee morning in aid of DownSyndrome LouthMeath. People travelled all over Louth to be with us and I can't thank you enough for making a wonderful morning for a great cause. Thank you to Conlon's Food Hall for providing treats & to Kira Byrne who also donated treats, and guess what they all went down a treat. A huge thank you to Dundalk football club for their continous support and time especially Liam Burns, John Mountrey & Scott High.for coming. It was a real honour to have you all join us.
We would also like to thank Zoë Conway & John McIntyre for taking time out of a very busy schedule to join us. We appreciated your time you spent with us.
Thanks to Councillor Conor Keelan for popping in for a cuppa. It was great to see you.
