Little Book at Bedtime:

A free bedtime storybook and library card wallet is available at the library for all children of 4 years and under, to pick up and keep.

This exciting initiative aims to engage all parents of young children to read stories with them at bedtime.

From the 6th of October, parents and their children can pop into their local library to pick up their free bedtime story book and join the library. Bedtime story books are available in English and Irish.

Action Objectives:

The objectives of this action are to support parental and child bonding, language and pre-literacy development and library membership with young children.

In this initiative all families with child under 4 years will be invited to visit their local library to each receive a bedtime storybook to take home and keep and will be asked to join the library. In the library all parents will be offered supporting materials informing parents of the value of reading to their child.
The books in English and Irish will be selected by a committee of children’s librarians to ensure the quality of the books.
