A build up of dead skin cells on the surface can trap the hair within the follicle when it is regrowing, resulting in an ingrown hair.

𝐄𝐗𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍- Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin cells from the surface of your skin. It keeps our skin from looking rough, flaky and dry, so it's pretty important. Waxing itself exfoliates the skin, leaving it smooth and totally soft after the very first treatment!

For best results, it’s important not to shave between wax sessions, as this will cause your hair to continue to grow coarsely. The length between waxing can vary to anywhere between 3-8 weeks, as hair grows back at different rates for different people and body parts.

While I was away from my wax pots, I also took some time away from my social media pages. Big mistake!! 🫣🫠 You all know how much work I've put into my socials over the years and how I love to create positive and useful content. Well unfortunately, because I wasn't very active on here during my maternity leave, my page got hit by Instagrams algorithm!

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙨𝙤𝙘𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙡𝙜𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙢? A social media algorithm is a process that ranks content based on how likely each social media user is to like it or interact with it. Basically, your posts will appear on more pages, the more it is interacted on.

I have over 2000 followers on my page and recently, my posts are reaching only 30-50 profiles. Do the math and this means my content is only reaching 2% of my followers!?! 🥵

To break this down, it means I could spend hours creating top-notch content, but it may NEVER get in front of the people who’d actually love and appreciate it. What a shame!

Over the last couple of weeks, I've been easing back into the swing of things and it's so good to see you all coming back through my doors 🥹

I enjoyed the time I took off to focus on my family, but it's great to be back and building back up the hours in my business. Although I'm not back working the hours I did previously (let's be honest, some weeks I worked craaaazy hours 🫣😛) I'm dipping in and out when and where I can each week.

For now, each week will bring different opening hours and I'm not booking appointments for weeks in advance like before. This is just to allow that little extra bit of flexibility while I'm still juggling between 'work mode' and 'mom mode' 🤣

But please let me know in advance if there's a specific date you would like to be fuzz free for. I can pop a note in my diary to offer you first refusal on appointments around that date.

This has been the first Christmas in a long time where I wasn't working every hour possible on the lead up to the big day 🎄 It has been so special spending the time with Layla for her first Christmas 🥺🎅🏼

The older you get, you realise that Christmas isn't about the hustle and bustle and all the materialistic things. Christmas time reminds us all to pause and reflect on the important things around us that money can't buy! So many of us wil spend this Christmas wishing to have a certain someone sitting beside us at the dinner table. We'll reminisce and talk about the loved ones we've lost!

So this year, remember to be grateful for all you have. Tell those you love that you love them and hug each other that little bit longer.

Remember for someone, your presence is their present 🫶🏼🎄

There has always been a very high demand for appointments with me, so I can only imagine what it will be like when I get back to my pots 🤯 I won't be booking up the long days or late evenings like before. I can't believe I've been away from my wax pots for 3 whole months! The weeks really are flying by! You spend the week counting down to the weekend, then it arrives and just disappears in a flash 🤣 You all told me to enjoy the newborn phase because it goes by so quickly....I didn't realise the weeks would go by THIS fast 🙈

I've received a lot of messages lately asking when I'll be back and where can you go until my pots are back in action. If you have any salon recommendations, please let me know so I can forward them on.

When my columns reopen, naturally I won't be at my wax pot the hours I used to. Being a mammy is now my full time job 🤣 While some of you may continue to book in with salons that offer more beauty treatments under the one roof, I know others have tried other salons and can't wait to get back on to my bed 🥴🙈

I can't believe I opened the doors of Waxapeel Dundrum 6 years ago 🤯 I started off with just a handful of people booked in each week, but that built up to full waiting lists and weeks where I'm constantly turning people away!

Waxapeel Dundrum has gone from strength to strength over the years. I opened my doors with no expectations or goals, but I had a bucket full of motivation and the drive in me to make a success of it. I never thought things would take off the way they did but as they say, 𝙮𝙤𝙪'𝙡𝙡 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙚𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙪𝙨𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙙 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙖𝙡𝙬𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙥𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙤𝙛𝙛!

Owning a business during a global pandemic was extremely difficult at times, but I adjusted my business when I had to and with constant hard work and the support from you lot, Waxapeel Dundrum is stronger than ever and will continue to grow from strength to strength!

Throughout December, and especially over the last few weeks, I've been inundated with requests to prebook appointments for 2022. Those who know me well, know how organised I like to be! I'm used to my columns being jam packed up to 6 months in advance, so during December, it was so strange not prebooking your future appointments at the end of each treatment.

However, I had good reasons for this 🙏🏼💫 I closed off my columns for 2022 because after what felt like a never ending journey, I knew that early this year, we'd 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 be welcoming a squishy new arrival into the world 🥰 I can't believe I'm on the final countdown now! We have wanted this for so so long and I always thought when my day came, the pregnancy would drag in and I'd be wishing the days away!

When I found out I was pregnant, my columns were already fully booked until Christmas. So I used that as my goal.... "Just get to Christmas and then I'll be able to wind down".... Now Christmas has passed and the nerves / reality is beginning to hit 🤣

I know there are so many of you reading this who are on a similar journey of trying, wishing and hoping. I know how triggering it can be to see a pregnancy announcement online. I know how physically and emotionally draining it can be but please please please don't give up! Trying to conceive really is a rollercoaster of highs and extremely low lows. Lean on those around you for love and support when you need to and always remember 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗲!

For the month of January, I'm working through each week day by day. I've reduced my hours and I won't be at my wax pot every day of the week like before 🤣 For now, my columns are fully booked. However, I expect it will be a messy month due to Covid cancellations, so I'll post any appointments that open up on my story 🔊

As always I want to thank you all for the continued support throughout 2021. Although I'll be taking a step back from my wax pot for a few weeks, I won't be gone for good! Waxapeel Dundrum is staying put and I'll be back to my spatulas and for the chats before you know it 💜 Just please promise me you won't turn to the razor 🙊🪒🥴

We've made it to the last day of 2021 🙏🏼🤯 The last few weeks have been a rollercoaster, filled with ups and downs....and tones of antigen tests 😂

If all you did was eat and drink to get through the days, who cares! The important thing is we made it! I'm thinking of all our loved ones up above who are no longer with us, as we head into a new year.

If you're spending your New Years Eve in isolation away from loved ones, again, don't get yourself down about it. Once we stay safe, we can make up for all this lost time together 💜💫
