The 2024 Irish National Surfing Championships will take place in Bundoran, Co Donegal on the 21st & 22nd September 2024. The event will include Surf Men, Surf Women, Body-board, Masters men and women, Longboard Men and women and SUP Surf men and women.

Irish Surfing Membership Required. Online Entry only. Entry closes at 5pm on Wednesday September 18th. The Irish National Surfing Championships is open to Irish Passport holders. Irish Surfing is signed up to the Irish Antidoping Rules. Antidoping Testing can take place at any Irish Surfing contest. Dara O'Malley Daly Rest In Peace
The death has occurred of Dara O Malley Daly, a dedicated surfer and volunteer in Irish Surfing.

Dara’s passion for surfing and contribution to Irish Surfing was immense. He was our Safety Officer, a former Instructor Developer Tutor, former Secretary and Chairman of Irish Surfing and many other roles.

As Chairman, he launched Eurosurf Bundoran ‘11 and led the event organising committee.

Dara rarely missed the Intercounties, a member of the infamous Donegal Z team with Kevin Mc Closkey, Dodo Mc Loughlin and Kevin Tobin.

At any time, I could pick up the phone to Dara and get the most professional advice. I will miss the many calls and meetings; and his unwavering support for safety in our sport but most of all I will miss a good friend.

Deepest condolences to Dara’s family, his wife, Mairead; his sons, Eoin & Oisin; Dara’s mother Mary; siblings, Sarah Orla & Patrick; his extended family and friends and his colleagues at Malin Coastguard.

Irish Surfing Junior Tour Event 6 will take place in Rossnowlagh, Co Donegal across the weekend of 24th -25th August 2024. Rossnowlagh Surf Club have a range of activities and entertainment lined up, for what is set to be a great weekend of community and fun alongside crowning our Junior National champions. Entries are now open (link in bio) and will close at 5pm Wed 21st August. Strictly no entries will be taken after closing. Look forward to seeing everyone in action in Rossnowlagh.

Irish Surfing has been working behind the scenes over the last few years to help secure Ireland's first Wave pool. The wave pool journey has begun and can be expected to take around 5-6 years until delivery, with 2 already complete. As the journey progresses, we will provide more updates.

We are very excited to announce Wipeout Festival which takes place all day Saturday 27th July in Strandhill , the highlight of the festival is at the National Surf Centre from 2 - 7 pm with bands , dj’s, acoustic performances and a fundraising BBQ for Sligo County Surf Club, there is also a music trail throughout Strandhill for the day and evening, stay tuned for further details!! Ministers Catherine Martin and Thomas Byrne have announced a record €4 million investment in the Women in Sport Programme for 2024!

45 National Governing Bodies will receive allocations totalling €2m.

Over the weekend we had surf club coaches gather in the North West for the first of our Coaching Coaches development program workshops. Olympic surf coach imparted a wealth of knowledge, built up from a career in competitive surfing, international and Olympic coaching. The club coaches were given new tools, knowledge and skills to help work with all levels of surfers within the club system.

Great to see more of the fantastic Women in Sport programs being enjoyed across our Surf Clubs. Here is West Coast Surf Club introducing the joy of surfing to more of its members.
