Eoin was out this morning "putting calves to sleep" for a client in order de-bud their horns. Horns are a health and safety risk on farms due to the risk to farmers and other animals alike. It is best to remove them from a young age with a hot iron to stunt their growth. The procedure was done stress and pain free on the animals as they received sedation, local anaesthetic and painkillers. A great example of the high animal welfare standards we see in our clients' farms.

Hazel is a sweet , 2 year old lurcher girl. Hazel is good to walk past other dogs once she focuser on the handler, we have been working on this. She is not pulling, stays walking right next to you on left, sits on command. Hazel gets very excited when we come home, however, we now have a routine to get adrenaline levels down within seconds. At the start there was some nipping, but once excitement levels are kept under control, she calms with a gentle chest rub and voice. This is the key to Hazel - as little excitement as possible makes her the best little dogs. She gets on with our rescue hound and neighbour's dog but is best rehomed as an only dog. Hazel sleeps in a crate very happily. She is good in towns with traffic, or going for lunches into restaurants, we take the dogs everywhere. No kids, and no cats, she is too jumpy for kids.
