We donated to CJ McCarthy who is raising funds on behalf of the Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH) to help build a new Neonatal Family Sanctum- a space for parents to go to take some time out from the clinical setting during stressful days.

CJ’s daughter Lauren was born in January 2021, nine weeks premature and weighing only 3lbs. Lauren spent the first six weeks of her life under the fantastic care of the neonatal ward of CUMH and after some challenging times early on, in the neonatal unit, Lauren is now a healthy, pleasant, and happy two-year-old.

Lauren’s parents Aoife and CJ recognised the need for improved facilities for parents of babies who are stillborn, premature, or suffering from life-limiting conditions. They are raising funds for a parents' room in a private area, separate from neonatal unit but nearby.

CJ has dusted off the running shoes and is taking on the challenge of a marathon. We wish Aoife and CJ all the best in the final weeks of preparation for his marathon. More information can be found below, and hopefully we can help CJ reach his goal of raising 30,000 euro for a cause that will make a difference.

Covid vaccine update

The following guidelines have been issued by the HSE regarding booster 2:

From Monday the 15th August the following cohorts will be eligible to receive the second booster dose:
those aged 60+
those are more than 16 weeks pregnant
over 12's who have a weakened immune system

From Monday 22nd August, those aged 55+ will be eligible to receive the second booster dose

From Monday 29th August, those aged 50+ will be eligible to receive the second booster dose
