Happy New Year
I heard an eminent research scientist on the radio yesterday. she has made some incredible discoveries about the world of fungi and how they communicate with each other. There are remarkable similarities between the life of fungi and our own conflicts, how we challenge our relationships, how we negotiate cooperation etc.

A couple of thoughts for mediation awareness week today:
As a mediator I believe that:
All people are basically good. It is our skill and vocation to bring this out in them.
That everyone is the expert in their own conflict. With skillful mediation we can help them see this and work with it.
That in all conflict there are common interests. The mediator helps people to find these for themselves, and to work collaboratively to find their own peaceful resolutions.
That in all of us there is a deep need to be heard. Mediators know how to listen.
More thoughts for Mediation Awareness week tomorrow.
Hi Folks, mediation awareness week is coming up. We can all make a difference.
In the words of Goethe
'......In all situations, it is my response the decides whether a crisis is escalated or de-escalated, and a person humanized or de-humanized. If we treat people as they are, we make them worse. If we treat people as they can be, we help them become what they are capable of becoming.'
I have yet to come across a conflict that could not be improved with skillful mediation.
