In partnership with the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth, we are excited to announce €2.4 million in funding awarded to 14 innovative organisations leading urgent change for people with disabilities!
We know the lack of accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities is an equality issue. In order to build towards a more equitable future, it’s critical to accelerate access and skills-building to those left out.
The change-making projects awarded under the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 2024 support people with disabilities to participate in community life by enhancing participation in social, cultural and physical activities, promoting disability awareness and training, and providing innovative pathways for teenagers with disabilities transitioning from secondary school.
Anne Rabbitte TD, Minister of State with special responsibility for Disability at DCEDIY commented: “These are fantastic programmes, projects and services coming from communities that focus on urgent change, increasing vital access and skills building, and I am very happy to see these receiving support through this fund towards progress for people with disabilities.”
The organisations awarded under the fund are: ADHD Ireland, Asiam.ie, Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, ChildVision, Crann Centre, Down Syndrome Centre, Independent Living Movement Ireland, Irish Deaf Society, Migrant Health Alliance Ireland , The National Platform Of Self Advocates Ireland, NOW Group, Specialisterne Ireland, Thriving Autistic and Vision Ireland.
Congratulations to all of the awardees! To learn more about the projects visit our website. https://rethinkireland.ie/awarded_fund/disability-participation-and-awareness-fund-2024/

Galway City Council this week introduced the first Local Authority Electric Sweeper in the west of Ireland as part of a move to decarbonise the Council fleet by 2030.
