For the next two days, Pegasus by Planète Vapeur will bring the fantastical and magical to life on the streets of Galway.

ℹ️ Here’s everything you need to know:

Parade Route
Pegasus will begin from Eyre Square, then move to Shop St, Mainguard St, Dominick St across O’Brien’s bridge ending on the road between Spanish Arch and lower Quay St.

It is with deep sadness that we received the news this morning, of the death of third officer, volunteer Junior Hannon.

A true gentleman, the most dedicated and reliable volunteer, we were so lucky to have had him in Roscommon. He will be greatly missed by all.

On short notice last night we were asked to provide assistance to Mayo Civil Defence for a missing person.

Our command and control vehicle was mobilized along with a county drone team.

Big thank you to our volunteers who made themselves available.

While mobile to the search area we received good news via our regional tetra talk group that the missing person was found safe and well.

This weekend, our boat crew worked alongside Mayo Civil Defence boat and drone units, in assisting an Garda Síochána North Western Region in a local search.

Road Closure:

Silverstrand Road will be closed off to the public until further notice.

Ballyloughane Beach Road will be for local access only until further notice

Council crews will be on hand monitoring a possible Road Closure from the mini-roundabout at Salthill Upper/Threadneedle Road along Seapoint Promenade as far as Galway Business School during the Severe Weather Event.

Car Parks remain closed until further notice:

• Toft car park

• Silverstrand Road / car park

Property owners/residents in areas prone to flooding should be prepared with any measures they have available to them.


Sandbags will be available from Friday Evening April 5th at:

• Tourist Kiosk Salthill

• Claddagh Hall

• Fire Station Fr Burke Road

• Spanish Arch

• Docks beside the Pedestrian Crossing (St Nicholas Street)


Observe any footpath or Road Closures due to wind borne debris.

The local coordination group is monitoring updates from Met Éireann.


Note a yellow wind warning is also in place for Galway tomorrow, April 6th from 5am to 8pm.
