Meet our amazing Ambassadors Phu & Xilia who hosted 35 guests from Tuam Bru Bhríde WTID community for a VIP STEM experience on Saturday 2nd March.
Our young guests received bookings to Fantastic DNA, a physics show, free time & lunch! They liked it so much they even registered to an extra « slime » workshop. At the end of the day our guests left with a Cell Explorers goodie bag to be able to do Fantastic DNA at home. Thank you so much for attending, it was a pleasure to host you!

We usually train every new recruit at Fantastic DNA as a first practical activity training.
This training has been run by the fantabulous Kate this semester through 4 or 5 sessions. Here are few pictures of the training of the project students!
Special thanks to the team behind the scene recruiting and training new members: Kate, Clara, Katie, SarahBeth, Kristin, shannon, Talia, Muriel. It is sometimes tricky to schedule and can be time consuming but it is essential to our activities.
This semester, 4 final year project students have been busy working within our team at revising, developing, initiating online training modules for different aspects of our programme.
Eloise and Emily are BSc genomics and genetics students, Chelsie is a BSc biotechnology student and Robyn is a BSc biochemistry student.
In addition of working on modules they are also involved in-the delivery pf Fantastic DNA or the Science Club to better appreciate the context of use of the module.
We are very lucky to have you all in pur team!
Meet the 24 wonderful 2nd year biomedical students who are delivering our science club to 6 different youth group as part-of their community knowledge initiative module this semester at !
After their training by Sarah-Beth and Kristin, they went on delivering this 5 weeks programme ending soon. Thanks so much for the good work with young people in Galway!
The science club was designed by Dr Sarah Caroll in collaboration with Megan & collaborators from and .ie with funding from .
The science clubs delivery is part of the GROWS project funded by the Medtronic Foundation.

Shannon is an funded PhD researcher in our research group, a Final Year undergraduate project alumna & part of the coordination team. No better representative than her!
Eimear is a volunteer. SHe kept the Galway team going during the COVID19 year delivering many session from Naples during her research work there! She is attending the ceremony with her supervisor nominated for best supervisor prize

Youth Work Ireland Galway: Community Youth Worker x 3 Posts will be based in Westside in Galway City (x2) & in Tuam in Galway County (x1). Cell Explorers at Munster Technological University recently hosted Fantastic DNA workshops at the Kerry Science Festival Family Showcase day and brought the show on the road to local national schools of Abbeydorney National School, Blennerville National School and Scoil Nuachabháil as part of Science Foundation Ireland National Science Week 2023. We had a great time meeting over 264 young students and marvelling at extracted DNA from many bananas. Thank you to the teachers and 6th class volunteers in helping us share knowledge and demonstrating DNA extraction to the younger classes.
