**Estate tidy up**

Hi Everyone, as already communicated in the recent AGM minutes, we believe an estate clean up is due and would be great to get this completed before our first grass cut of the year which is soon approaching.
So for this weekend, Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March, we have organised bags and gloves for you to use. If we could all tidy up the grass verge outside our houses,and pick up rubbish on the verges and green areas.
If anyone is available to also help tidy up the flowerbeds at the front of the estate, that would be much appreciated. Please let us know by reply.

The bags and gloves can be collected from the front of the estate beside the main entrance and on the big green near the fruit trees,
Please ensure that only rubbish/recyclables are placed in the bags provided.
**Strictly no green or household waste ** .

When filled, the bags can be brought to the front of the estate and left at the main entrance behind the stone Courtown park sign , the council will collect them during the week.
It’s all our responsibility to keep the estate looking it’s best, so your support is greatly appreciated.

8 Fruit trees planted this morning

Thank you to everyone involved.

I’m looking forward to picking fruit with my kids in the coming years

Planting of 8 Fruit Trees only (at this time )

If the results of the survey are in favour, fruit trees will hopefully be planted on St. Patrick's Day.'

if you could voice your opinion on below quick survey ( click on blue link below) as they need to be planted asap

A sub-committee of Courtown Park Residents Association was set up at the recent EGM whose aim it is to get a consensus from the residents on a suitable tree planting plan for the estate. Trees should ideally be planted between Nov - March. Due to the mild weather, it has been decided that the majority of the trees which have been secured for the estate will be planted next season from Nov 2022 to March 2023. This also gives the rcommittee time to reach a consensus with residents as to the best positioning of the trees. The saplings have been bedded down and are safe until then.
We do have 8 fruit trees that need to be planted ASAP. These are small to medium sized apple, pear and plum trees. The proposed site is on the east side of big green..

This site has been chosen for the following reasons:
- Good soil quality
- Good drainage
- Receives sunlight throughout the day
- Any shadow cast will be onto the green (not onto any house or road)
- Positioned to avoid underground pipes
- The proposed position is viewable from many points and therefore less susceptible to vandalism.
- The blossoms will be visible from March to June and will add variety to the large green
- Easily accessible for all residents to pick fruit in the Autumn.
- They are set back from the road and leaves will fall mainly onto the grass. The road sweeper will catch any excess that blows onto the road.
- They are not close to the public light on that stretch.
There are currently sticks marking the proposed planting spots. These trees when grown will be similar to the fruit trees planted on the small green at Aylmer Crescent.

Please complete the Microsoft form below and indicate if you agree or disagree with the proposed site.

The EGM yesterday evening was a very productive meeting. Thank you to all the residents that attended.

The items which were tabled and adopted are as follows:-

The following have been appointed as road representatives on the residents association:

Alymer Close and 2nd Road- Donal and Rob;
Alymer Crescent-Mary and Valerie;
Alymer Drive-Laura and Siobhan;
Alymer Lawns-Donal;
The Bungalows- Sean;
Duncreevan- Nuala and Michael;
Long Road- Jennifer and Kate;
3rd Road- Michael and Rob.

The following have been appointed as:

Chairperson- Catriona Lindsay (with Kate Daly to Chair meetings);
Treasurer- Carmel Balala;
Secretary- Anna Spence

The appointed reps will collect the grass subs of €50 per house over the next 2 weeks. The first cut is due to be carried out mid March. The proposal is to cut all greens in the Courtown Park Estate with the exception of the very end of the large green (motorway end) if that is what residents at that end of the large green want. When your reps go door to door for the sub collection, please let them know what your preference is.

A sub-committee has separately been established to discuss tree planting. They will meet and circulate a proposal over the coming weeks.

Kate will draft a letter to send to the Council/politicians in relation to the severe potholes on the Bungalows Road. Kate to share it with Catriona. Catriona will share onwards with residents on Bungalows Road if they would like to also raise the issue directly with the Council/politicians.

Well done to everyone who has stepped up at such short notice and so enthusiastically.

A great Saturday morning planting trees in Courtown park. Special thanks to Kilcock Scouts - 16th Kildare & Tidy Towns Kilcock .

25/01/2022

We have received native trees from Trees On The Land to plant in our estate. Planting day will be this Saturday 29th January on the Big Green from 11am till approx 2pm. This is a memorable way to kickstart 2022 by planting a tree for your family.

Please bring the following items if you have them at home:
- spade
- cardboard with all plastic removed
- wheelbarrow
- sledgehammer

Refreshments will be provided but bring your own mug.

Children will be able to paint a memento to lay beside their tree - a rock or a piece of wood. If you have something at home, please bring it along.

Below is a draft plan to give you an idea of what we have in mind. All feedback welcome.

Kildare county council have provided us with a detailed drawing of where pipes are buried. These areas will be planted according to specifications received.

A special thanks to Tidy Towns Kilcock and Kilcock Community Gardens without whom we wouldn’t have secured these trees.

Regards,
Your Residents Committee
