Bodil Andersen was a textile designer at the Kilkenny Design Workshops (KDW) during the late 1960s and created some beautiful pattern with fantastic use of colour and geometric shapes. Surely these beauts would have 'guest towel' status 😁 More of Bodil's work can be viewed on The National Irish Visual Arts Library (NIVAL) archive.
Let the sun shine! 🌞 Gorgeous views of the Rose Garden with blue skies and little fluffy clouds overhead. Kilkenny Castle is literally on our doorstep, a hop, skip and a jump across the street - how lucky are we? 😎
Another beaut designed by Oisín Kelly. The Irish text means 'It is for its own sake that a cat purrs' 😻 The stripes on the cat are genius! Designed in 1968 as part of the KDW, the glass cloth is another design great. One of many from the KDW Artist in Residence.

The mighty ducks are enjoying life in the pond in Kilkenny Castle Park. Another lovely feature to enjoy and admire as part of a stroll around the park and will be greatly appreciated by many in the coming months 😎 🦆
Award-winning photographer, filmmaker and Kilkenny's own son Richard Mosse's new exhibition 'Tristes Tropiques' showcases a series of large-scale photographic maps documenting the impact of fires that ravaged the Amazon following years of deforestation. Using geographic information system (GIS) technology, Mosse processed thousands of images captured above each site by drone to create staggering images that highlight areas of environmental impact. Richard Mosse: Tristes Tropiques is at Jack Shainman Gallery, New York City, from 8 April to 15 May. 👏👏👏 (Image credit: Richard Mosse and Jack Shainman Gallery)
Typography at its finest! This beaut was designed by Oisín Kelly and the Irish text means 'The far off hills are green' ⛰️. Designed in 1971 as part of the KDW, the glass cloth is another design great. One of many from the KDW Artist in Residence.
The morning is most definitely the best part of these days. A morning stroll, especially along the River Nore, is just the thing to get the creative juices going and set up for the day 😙
There is so much fantastic Irish craft and design available to view on the National Irish Visual Arts Library. We found some gorgeous work by the Irish sculptor Oisín Kelly who is best known for his public sculptures, notably the Children of Lir (1971) and the Larkin statue (1979) in Dublin and the Two Working Men, at County Hall, Cork. In 1964, he was appointed artist in residence at the newly-founded Kilkenny Design Workshops.
'March roars in like a lion, so fierce, the wind so cold, it seems to pierce. The month rolls on, and Spring draws near, and March goes out, like a lamb so dear.' We're nearly there! Looking forward to eating lunch al fresco in the Rose Garden of Kilkenny Castle again 😎 🌻.
There are so many little nooks and hidden locations among Kilkenny's lanes and city walls. A perfect example of this is the Heritage Council Garden located on Church Lane, near to the beautiful St Canices Cathedral. Mature trees encircle the landscaped garden, a fab find on a summer's day and something to look forward to 😎
"Shaped by history, designed to experience, Kilkenny’s medieval cityscape, vibrant creative culture, and supportive business community make it the perfect location to visit or do business". When we designed the new brand identity system and website for Kilkenny County late last year this vision statement was our north star. Check out the brand development for yourself 💛 🐈

Under the bridge downtown...what a lovely and not often seen view of our very own St. Canice's Cathedral. The 13th-century Catherdral links directly to Kilkenny Castle via Medieval Mile. It's also a gorgeous venue for many concerts during and of course the infamous Round Tower - one of the only two round towers in the country that people may climb.
