Munster Music Academy
Munster Music Academy on the shores of Lough Derg in Killaloe is a centre of artistic excellence
Congratulations to Max McKenna 🎉🎉🎉
on being selected for the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland! This is an incredible achievement and a testament to his hard work and dedication.
As a member of both the Irish Chamber Youth Orchestra (ICO Youth) and the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland (CBOI), Max has already demonstrated his impressive skills and commitment to music.
His upcoming participation in two residential gatherings with the NYOI, will culminate in a performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 9, an exciting milestone in his musical journey.
Having studied with Tara Lee Bryne at Munster Music Academy (MMA) and Chris Marwood at the Cork School of Music (CSM), Max has built a solid foundation under the guidance of two highly respected educators. His dedication is clearly reflected in his pursuit of his Grade 7 Cello exams, which is a significant milestone in any young musician's career.
In addition to his cello studies, Max is also focusing on Chamber Music and Orchestral preparation with his cello teacher Grainne Uí hUiginn at Munster Music Academy (MMA). This specialized training under Gráinne's expert guidance will be invaluable as he continues to develop his skills in both individual and ensemble settings. Blending individual technique with ensemble performance, will serve him well as he prepares for his upcoming participation in the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland (NYOI).
Max's commitment to both solo and orchestral music speaks to his versatility and passion, and it’s exciting to see where this next chapter with the NYOI will take him.
Wishing Max all the best as he continues to grow as a musician and takes part in such a prestigious opportunity. The future is bright for this talented young cellist!
