Kinsale Chess Mates

Update on Fri 19th and Fri 26th July

Please note that the club will meet from 4pm to 6pm only on both of these dates.

Chess sessions return tomorrow, Fri 12th July!

We are intending to resume chess sessions on Fridays (supervisor availability dependant), starting with tomorrow Fri 12th July 4pm.

Please note - special rules for the venue (Kinsale Community School) for the summer:

- We need to park at the lower parking area
- Use the middle door only for entry/exit
- Rooms on the ground floor are not available, so we need to go upstairs (room number to be confirmed)
- There is no cleaning crew, so we need to clean up after ourselves

Please note for Fri 19th and Fri 26th July - there will be no chess lessons, it will chess club only.
On these dates the intention is to have chess club for both the 4pm to 6pm and 6pm to 8pm sessions.

Chess sessions cancelled

Unfortunately, but understandably, we will not be able to hold the chess sessions tonight or during the rest of June as the State Examinations are taking place in KCS - meaning the venue is not available to us.

There are plans to hold chess camp in July and/or August, please keep an eye on our website and social media.

All-Ireland U16s Champions!

Congratulations to the Clontead-Kinsale under 16 Chess team, all of whom are members of this club!

They won against both Carlow in the semi-final and Cavan in the final at the National Finals of the Community Games held in Gormanston, Meath on Sun 26th May.

Well done to our national champions!!

6th October Session

We would like to inform you that on the 6th October, 2023 our head coach will not be available due to The 31st Cork Congress held in Blarney (6th-8th October).

From 16:00 to 18:00 there will be no chess lessons, but there will be a chess club from 16:00 to 20:00 (please bring €2) with competitions, and other fun games.

We are launching today!

We are delighted to inform you that we will be holding regular chess sessions on Fridays in Kinsale Community School (P17 R993) 4-8pm starting today, Friday the 15th of September 2023. Room G06, just opposite the middle door. Please use the middle door to the left of the main entrance.

4-6pm - chess lessons with Zsolt Kardkovács (former Hungarian chess player and Irish National Chess Arbiter) – €8.00/session, you can stay for the second part as well

6-8pm - chess club – games and in-house mini-tournaments – if you only attend the second part €2.00/session

Players of any level can join from 7 years of age up till 16. The 16 year old age limit is expected to be extended very soon.
