When I went to Malawi with GOAL in 2019 we met women and girls that walked on average 6,000 steps a day just to fetch water for their communities. 🪣

I’m proud to be an ambassador for the Goal Mile supported by AIB this year.

Hard to put into words just how tough; mentally, physically & emotionally last week was.

In the last 10 months, we have had ~35 international games (capped & uncapped), travelled to 6 countries & competed in 3 major tournaments. 🌎

From dealing with constant uncertainty to avoiding covid & its risks. From the injuries & selections to the highs and lows of both the European Championships & the Olympic Games. From the transition back into the ‘real world’ after a 5 year cycle to immediately having to refocus for a World Cup qualifier with a new squad… 🎢

In 2017 we qualified for our first World Cup since 2002. To have gone back to back and qualified for our second World Cup in a row after the year we’ve just had feels incredible. ☘️

The icing on the cake was finally having the stands full again with our nearest & dearest, and some current underage hockey stars. 💚

The future is exciting for the Green Army but for now some much needed R&R. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Irish women’s coach Sean Dancer has named an 18-player central panel and two travelling reserves ahead next week’s vital World Cup qualifying competition which takes place in Pisa from October 21st to 24th.

The Green Army jetted out this morning for final preparations for the European Championships which get underway on June 4th in Amsterdam.
