For those of you interested in the Planning Exemptions in relation to Satellite Dishes, the details of what's allowed to be installed without planning permission are attached, anything else would require planning permission.
There have been some changes to the commencement notice process as and from September 1st.
For "one off" houses and extensions there's now an option to "opt out" of the full certification process established in March 2014.
Your development must still be built in compliance with The Building Regulations, and you must submit a commencement notice prior to the start of works. More details from the Department of the Environment here. http://www.environ.ie/en/Legislation/DevelopmentandHousing/BuildingStandards/FileDownLoad,42563,en.pdf

Hello all.
The Department of Communications Energy and Natural Resources have a consultation open on the National Rural broadband Plan to get the views of citizens, stakeholders and representative bodies.
It will be important to let communities, private individuals and businesses that they can have their say on how and where the National Broadband Plan will be rolled out.
The consultation Documents are available at www.broadband.gov.ie
The key consultation questions are :
· The accuracy of the broadband map and how it has been developed;
· The proposed changes to the Next Generation Access (NGA) assessment criteria following the call for inputs in June 2014 which were used to develop the Map;
· The most appropriate process to capture any changes or updates to NGA coverage arising over time;
· What should be deemed a strategic connection point for the purposes of Connecting Communities, for example schools and hospitals
· Invites further submissions of mapping data from operators who have planned to deploy high speed broadband services.
To contribute, a template has been developed for submissions and the closing date and time is 5.00 pm on 12th February 2015.
Please pass on this information to any interested communities, private individuals and businesses across the area.
Many thanks.
Regards, Pádraig.

Have a look at our website for some information on the New Building Control System, in place since last Saturday March 1st 2014. We can take you through the changes as they apply to your particular build and we provide all the services required from Design Certifier to Assigned Certifier and so on. The New Building Control Management System is to be welcomed as it will mean that haphazard unsafe developments that don't meet the regulations in terms of Fire Safety, Disabled Access, Energy Efficiency etc will not be possible in the future. Remember the Building Regulations themselves aren't changing, just the way they are regulated and enforced.
