We are thrilled to announce that Lismore Cricket Club 1st XI has won the MCU Division 3 T20 League in spectacular fashion! ๐ŸŒŸ

Semi-Final Recap - July 13, 2024: Lismore CC faced Nenagh CC 3rd XI at Townparks, Midleton. With an unbeaten century from MC (100* off 69 balls), we set a formidable 145/5 in 20 overs. Despite rain reducing Nenagh's target, Michael Talbot's brilliant bowling (3/12) led us to a 47-run victory via the DLS method. ๐Ÿ…

Cork Harlequins 4ths, then set up a final vs Lismore with a tense 7 wicket win, with two balls to spare, over Clonmel 2XI in the other semi-final.

Grand Final Glory โ€“ In the final against Cork Harlequins CC 4th XI, Lismore CC posted an imposing 220/6 in 18 overs. Michael Talbot starred again with a stunning 100 runs, supported by another MC batting display with a rapid 65. ๐Ÿ Despite a couple of early wickets, the aggressive approach paid off.

Defending the total, our bowlers shone brightly! Michael Talbot took 3/23, and Gikhil Francis claimed 2/20. Cork Harlequins managed 113/7 in their 18 overs. Our disciplined bowling and fielding ensured a resounding 107-run victory. ๐Ÿฅ‡

Thank you to our Captain Gireesh for his on-field leadership, all our members, volunteers, sponsors and the wider community for your unwavering support! This victory is for you! Let's celebrate this incredible achievement together! ๐ŸŽ‰

The MCU Div 3 One Day 40 Overs match at Castlelands Cricket Ground on 22 June 2024 saw an exciting contest between Lismore CC 1st XI and Nenagh Cricket Club CC 3rd XI. Lismore CC, winning the toss, opted to bat first.

Lismore's Innings: Manu Babu provided stability at the top of the order with a well-crafted 44 runs off 56 balls, striking 4 fours and 1 six. Despite his efforts, wickets fell at regular intervals, preventing Lismore from gaining any real momentum. Guna Nanjappa played a crucial role in the middle order, scoring a valuable 47 runs off 61 balls with 4 boundaries and 2 sixes, but lacked support from the other end. Michael Talbot contributed with a brisk 29 off 32 balls, but other batsmen couldn't capitalise, leading to a modest total of 198 for 9.

Nenagh's bowlers maintained pressure throughout, with Deeksh*th Reddy Gaddam (2/29) and Praveen Pyda (2/39) being the pick of the bowlers. They were well supported by Shan Thomas and Rinu Narayanan, who took a wicket each.

Nenagh's Chase: In reply, Nenagh CC had a shaky start, losing opener Rinu Narayanan for a duck and S Mathew for just 1 run. However, Amit Gupta's solid 48 runs off 55 balls, featuring 2 fours and 4 sixes, steadied the ship. He formed crucial partnerships, first with Antony Jijin Pallan Devassy (13) and then with Gigil George, who contributed a brisk 28 off 26 balls.

As the chase progressed, Nenagh found themselves in a slightly precarious position at 148 for 6. However, a composed and effective innings from Deeksh*th Reddy Gaddam, who remained unbeaten on 25, and Jibin Scaria, who scored a steady 24 not out, guided the team home to reach the target comfortably in 38 overs.

Lismore's bowlers struggled to contain the runs despite taking early wickets. Guna Nanjappa was the most successful, with figures of 2 for 47. Michael Talbot (1/43) and Manikandan N (1/32) also made contributions, while captain Gireesh bowled a very tight 8 overs for just 23 runs.

Lismore 2 XI defeated Laois Lions by 78 runs in a friendly. Batting first, Lismore posted a total of 133 for 7 in their allotted 30 overs. Mani top-scored with a solid 29, while Carl contributed 21. In reply, Laois Lions struggled against Lismoreโ€™s disciplined bowling attack, managing 55 for 9 in 24 overs. Kevin was the standout bowler, taking 2 for 10, while Ian chipped in with 2 for 16.

Kevin was deservedly named Lismore Man of the Match for his all-round performance, scoring a crucial 20 not out and taking two wickets. The Champagne Moment of the match was provided by Carl, who not only bludgeoned 16 runs off the final over of Lismore's innings, but also executed a brilliant run-out of the Laois Lionsโ€™ captain while he was on the ground.

Many thanks to Laois for making the journey.

Congratulations to our 1XI for securing a well-deserved win against Waterford this bank holiday monday!

Batting first, Lismore's lineup displayed terrific intent from the start, putting up a strong total on the board.

The bowlers replicated the batting unit's brilliance. Bowling as a cohesive unit, they stifled Waterford's chase, securing a well-deserved win for Lismore.

Lismore Taverners hosted the RTร‰ Cricket Club for a thoroughly enjoyable friendly match which was played in great spirit. Many thanks to RTE for traveling to Lismore. Peter (30 not out) and Drew (25) were the top scorers for RTE, with Guna* contributing an impressive 21. Mike and Kev took 2 wickets each, with Nirmal, Dan, Sarath, and Brendan also taking wickets for Lismore.

Lismore got off to a quick start with Miguel hitting the first ball of the innings for 6, but they lost regular wickets and never really kept up with the RRR. Dan top-scored with 30 not out, batting at 8 to get within striking distance of the total, and Nat contributed a handy 22. However, it was out of reach for Lismore in the end. The pick of the RTE bowlers were AP and Evan, with Mani* delivering a very tight 9 runs for 1 wicket off his 3 overs.

*Guna and Mani were on loan to RTE from Lismore.
