We will talk about what it takes to write a cookery book; the changing face of book publishing in Ireland; books that reflect a modern multicultural Ireland, and cookbooks for children.
Caitlin Ruth (Cork) and Sham Hanifa (Carrick On Shannon) are two of this year’s hugely popular Blasta Books authors. Ruth released Funky earlier this year all about the world of funky pickles, and Hanifa launched Agak Agak in summer all about the food of his Malaysian heritage and family.
Caroline Hennessy (Cork) is an award-winning food writer, journalist, and broadcaster and the author of two books all about beer and food, Slainte (the complete guide to Irish craft beer and cider) and The Official Guinness Cookbook.
Dr Michelle Darmody (Cork and Dublin) is an award-winning food writer, journalist, and educator with a weekly column in the Irish Examiner. Her second book, From Seed to Supper, is a book about food for children to learn about how food is grown, the food system, making good food choices, how to grow and then cook with it, too.
Authors will be available to sign books after the discussion.

We are thrilled to have the one and only Kate Ryan of flavour.ie hosting a series of panel events on Saturday at this year's fEast.
First up is....
Feirm Factor – The Changing Face of Family Farms
Three family farms discuss their innovations to ensure farm viability for future generations and becoming an important part of their local communities by establishing farm shops, ready-to-eat food products, milk vending, pop-up restaurants, cafes, family activity days and more besides!

📣fEast Update📣
Huge thanks to all who have supported fEast Cork Food & Drink Festival since its beginnings in 2017.
Réidín, Mary and I gave a voluntary commitment to develop the festival as a community event over a 5 year period. With the help and support of Fergus McCarthy and a small team of varied and valuable volunteers, fEast Cork built steadily on the roots of the Midleton Food and Drink Festival to become a nationally renowned festival with an international audience.
fEast Cork has been about coming together as a community to showcase and celebrate the rich food and drink heritage in the East Cork area and supporting local food and drink businesses to work together to achieve this aim.
We are grateful for your support of the festival and the part you played in growing the festival over the past 7 years.
We are grateful to the Midleton & Area Chamber who have agreed to take on the guardianship of fEast Cork Food and Drink Festival from 2024 and ensure that it continues to be an annual event in our area.
They have committed to overseeing and supporting the development of a sub committee to ensure the continued, sustainable growth of the festival.
We have such great memories of our fEast journey and it will always have a special place in our hearts. We are excited about the next chapter for fEast and hope you will be part of it.
Thanks for your support over the years,
Kevin, Réidín & Mary
