How to choose a practitioner 🧐☯️

If you're considering acupuncture, take the same steps you would to choose a doctor 🩺
• Ask people you trust for recommendations ✅
• Check the practitioner's training and credentials. 📊 https://prtcm.org/practitioner/michal-niedzialkowski/
• Interview the practitioner. Ask what’s involved in the treatment, how likely it is to help your condition and how much it will cost. 👩‍💼
• Find out whether your insurance covers the treatment. 🤝

Acupuncture is a form of treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine. 🙏 It involves the insertion of very thin needles through the skin in various places on the body known as acupuncture points for therapeutic reasons.
What can be treated https://prtcm.org/medical-conditions-treated-by-tcm/

ℹ️ During the procedure:
Needle insertion. Acupuncture needles are inserted in various depths on points of your body. The needles are very thin, so insertion usually causes little discomfort. People often don't feel them inserted at all. Between five and 20 needles are used in a typical treatment. You may feel a mild aching sensation when a needle reaches the correct depth.
• Needle manipulation. Your practitioner may gently move or twirl the needles after placement or apply heat or mild electrical pulses to the needles.
• Needle removal. In most cases, the needles remain in place for 10 to 20 minutes while you lie still and relax. There is usually no discomfort when the needles are removed.

➡️ After the procedure:
Some people feel relaxed and others feel energised after an acupuncture treatment. But not everyone responds to acupuncture. If your symptoms don't begin to improve within a few weeks, acupuncture may not be right for you.

Qi Gong exercises for own health. 💚🏃‍♀️

Every practitioner of Chinese Medicine is required to look after their own health first. 👨‍🏫 They are no good to anybody if their own health isn't good, as the treatment depends on the practitioners clarity of mind and energy. 🙏

We cannot create more new energy, before we get rid of "used up" energy. ☯️

This exercise demonstrates exchange that takes place between humans and plants. 🌲 Plants readily absorb our "used up" energy (CO2) and exchange it for their "used up" energy (02) and other more subtle substances. 🎐 The Qi Gong practitioner immerses themselves in nature and lives in harmony with it. 🍃

It’s Allergy Season! 🤧🌸
Acupuncture or herbs can help provide instant relief from hay fever symptoms, especially during spring when we are flooded with pollens from grasses, leaves, weeds etc. 🌿

Symptoms of hay fever include:
• Sneezing
• Runny nose
• Itchy and tearing eyes
• Blocked nose
• Headache
• Toothache (due to sinusitis)
• Fever

According to Chinese medicine hay fever is related to Qi deficiency in the lung, spleen and kidney. Susceptibility to wind and cold especially at this time of year can cause running and blocked up nose and eyes as well as irritated sinuses. 🌬

Following a consultation, your practitioner can prescribe a suitable course of treatment for you, treating the root cause of the condition and strengthening Qi. 😄

Spring clean your liver. 🌿🎋
This time of year is an ideal time for cleansing and rejuvenation. 🌱

In Chinese medicine, spring is represented by the wood element and includes the liver and the gall bladder, allowing the smooth flow of Qi (气 i.e. energy) throughout the body. 🧖‍♀️

Here are some ways to move your Qi this spring 💚:

Stretch 🧘‍♀️
In Chinese medicine, the liver stores and releases blood during periods of rest/activity, maintaining tendon health and flexibility.
Incorporate a morning stretch into your routine, or try yoga or tai qi.

Eye Exercises 👁
The liver is also connected to proper eye function.
Take breaks when looking at a computer for extended periods of time and do eye exercises.

Eat Green 🥗
Eating fresh leafy greens, sprouts, and immature cereal grasses - can improve the liver's overall functions and help qi movement.

Taste Sour 🍏
Foods and drinks with sour tastes can stimulate the liver's qi.
Put lemon slices in your water 🍋 use vinegar and olive oil as a salad dressing, or garnish your sandwich with dill pickle.

Do more outdoor activities 🌳
Outside air helps liver qi flow. Try hiking or take up golf.

Enjoy milk thistle tea 🍵
Milk thistle helps protect liver cells from incoming toxins and encourages the liver to cleanse itself from substances such as alcohol, medications, pesticides and environmental toxins.

Acupuncture ☯️
Chinese medicine can help improve the overall health of your liver, as well as treat stress, anger and frustration, which can be linked to liver qi disharmony.

If you would like further advice on this, or would like to book an appointment, please contact us. We are here to help 😊

Rising numbers in the hospitals, lock down restrictions, being told that you can't work anymore, bills coming in the door. 🤯

All of this is enough to cause uneasiness that leads to Anxiety

What to do then?

The best thing is to engage in single activity that helps to focus our mind and forget about the current troubles. Becoming mindful of our body, sensations and emotions is very important as well as healthy eating and exercise.
An ancient proverb says that "peaceful a mind sleeps through the storm".

In Chinese Medicine ones mind is Housed in his Heart.

So, the way to settle the mind is to make it peacefully reside in the heart by "nourishing" it.

Chinese herbal medicine, as well as acupuncture, uses different herbs to achieve it and one of the prescriptions doing it is "Emperor of Heaven's (means God or Holy / Great Spirit) Special Pill to Tonify the Heart". Once this happens you regain the ability to cope and concentrate.

We remain open as part of the essential services defined under the healthcare professionals act, until further notice.

Quell Stomach Decoction Prescription

Chinese medicine has a lot of prescriptions, some of them very specialised to treat acute conditions. One of them can be Quell Stomach Powder.

It is indicated for cheek pain, headache, red cheeks, fever, teeth which are sensitive that don’t mind cold but sensitive to hot, bleeding in the gums, bleeding around the teeth, painful and swollen glands or bad breath.

This prescription can be modified according to the client and the severity of the tooth pain and other associate symptoms that come with it.

In western medicine dentistry, one of the reasons for teeth decay is stomach acid coming up and causing erosion of the teeth and subsequent infection. What it means in Chinese medicine the heat in the stomach can be due to stress, causing the reflux of acid and especially at night, this can cause the erosion of the teeth over time. People often wake up after a night’s sleep with a terrible taste in their mouth.
So, with all that in mind, this prescription works by reducing heat in the stomach and the reason for the acid reflux and gum inflammation.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to

Some people might ask, what is Acupuncture?

"Acupuncture is one of the most popular and effective contemporary healing techniques, practised in almost every country on the globe. Acupuncture is part of a comprehensive medical system that has survived over the millennia. Not only is it safe, in the hands of fully trained practitioners, but its clinical applicability is enormous.

The World Health Organisation has compiled a huge list of medical conditions that are amenable to treatment with acupuncture, including chronic respiratory problems, such as sinusitis and asthma, neurological and musculoskeletal disorders, such as headaches and low back pain, digestive disorders, such as colitis and gastritis, and chronic menstrual problems. This is apart from the treatment of mental and emotional disturbances and certain behavioural problems, such as addictive habits."
