NUTRITION TIP #3 from LifeForce Nutrition: Why do we need fats in our diet? ๐ก
1. Fats are the macronutrient that get the worst press, but donโt hate fats โ theyโre essential to our health โ once you get the good ones in! ๐
2. Focus on fats that provide us with Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) โ these include Omega 3 and Omega-6 rich fats in the forms of mono and polyunsaturated fats. These fats help us to feel fuller for longer, aids with exercise recovery. They are also the building blocks for many of our hormones. We need them for a healthy cardiovascular system, and for immune and brain function - our brains are 70% fat! ๐ง
3. Get your essential fats from sources including oily fish, flax and chia seeds, raw nuts and seeds, eggs and avocados ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฅ
NUTRITION TIP #2 from LifeForce Nutrition: Why do we need carbohydrates in our diet? ๐ฅ๐๐
1. Carbohydrates provide glucose for energy (ATP) production in every single cell in our body. If you exercise on a regular basis you need to have adequate carbohydrate intake to meet your daily energy requirements ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ
2. Eat the rainbow. Carbohydrates come from a variety of foods and we should aim to consume a variety of carbohydrates. An assortment of wholegrains, vegetables and fruits provide our body with carbohydrates, fiber for healthy digestive function and an array of vitamins and mineral to maintain energy production, support our immune function and boost our general health ๐พ๐ฅฆ๐ฅ๐
3. For long term health, aim to consume your carbohydrates mostly in the form of wholegrains, whole fruits and vegetables. Minimise your intake of white and refined carbohydrates such as cakes, sweets and fizzy drinks. Trust us, your body with thank you for it! ๐
You asked, we listened! Weโll be bringing you some nutrition tips from our fantastic nutritionist Joanne LifeForce Nutrition ๐๐ป
NUTRITION TIP #1: Why do we need protein in our diet? ๐ก
1. Recovery from your workout ๐ช If your aim is to become fitter, stronger and faster you must consume enough protein to help your body when working out. Our muscles rely on dietary protein to become stronger and adapt to the training stimulus, whether this is running, boxing or weights training
2. Protein is satisfying and helps us to feel fuller for longer๐ It also helps to keep our energy levels steady through the day. Something as simple as having a natural yogurt or some nuts with your fruit can keep you feeling fuller for longer
3. Protein is thermogenic, meaning our body burns extra calories to break down and metabolise dietary protein. So, if youโre trying to shed a few lbs, protein should be the macro nutrient of choice โ๏ธ

About bloody time. Places still using plastic straws and utensils need to wise up ๐ง
Cotton buds, plastic plates and straws made from single use plastic to be banned from tomorrow EUโs Single Use Plastic (SUP) Directive comes into effect this weekend, which means that many common items made with single use plastics will be banned from the Irish market.
