Joe Duffy interview on endometriosis:

https://www.rte.ie/radio/radio1/clips/22158011/

14/10/2022

What a day it has been! I was interviewed on about Hormonal Health and Menopause, doing a busy Hospital clinic and then a researcher from .ie asked me to go on and talk about endometriosis.

Even though I was busy you can’t let an opportunity go of educating women and society about this as like menopause endometriosis ihas been there for generations and women have suffered for generations because it was never spoken about. We need to take every opportunity to discuss women’s health so that we can enlighten everyone and get more support and research into this very debilitating condition.

Endometriosis needs to be prevented and we need to be seeing young girls early when they have heavy and painful periods so that we can sort out the hormone imbalance. We also need to get more research into treating it for those who have it for years. Thanks to all of you about your lovely positive messages following the radio interview.

Have just finished doing a call on the shortage of HRT patches for women.

We have been told it is due to a supply shortage. There has been a 77% increase in the demand for Estradot HRT patch in the past two years and this is because of all the work I and others have been doing on menopause. I started seven years ago because I heard of the awful stories that women had endured and I was determined to change it.

These public health lectures definitely changed the narrative and of course being invited into .ie on really opened the flood gates.

We still have more work to do. It is wonderful that women are finally listening to their bodies and seeking help instead of suffering.

Thanks to all those who have helped me in this incredible positive journey. I have done great podcasts on menopause with and and so do listen to them

I just finished doing a webinar for organised by a wonderful team led by Jenny Dunbar and thanks to Teresa O Shaughnessy for all her help. We discussed how Diabetes can accelerate menopause and also discussed heart health. There is an epidemic of Type 2 Diabetes at the moment so it is very important that we talk about prevention and healthy eating. Management of Diabetes has been made easier because of the great medications we have available. We also discussed all things Menopause, osteoporosis and treatments. Thanks also to for her help.

Just came out to update myself on the latest in Endocrinology and network with colleagues. It is great to be here after two long years. When you are a single parent like me you have to use your time very efficiently so I flew in late last night to do an intense day of lectures and I will fly home again tomorrow night. It is lovely to pause and reflect on how precious life is. I adore my job and I get great energy from it but when you get time to be by yourself and pause and reflect especially after what we have been through, you really appreciate life and all the good things that come your way. Loosing my Godmother and precious aunt last week also makes you pause and realise how precious life is and also how important it is to embrace life and Carpe Diem when you can.

Happy International Womens Day!

A short video on why it is so important to our hormonal health that we press ahead for gender equality.

Some dreadful examples of ignorance and chauvinism shown to recently that had to pointed out by . Interesting that only pointed it out. What was the other male doing by remaining silent. I would like to see the and highlighting that this is no longer tolerable and totally unfair to girls and women in our society

18/02/2022

A short video on Diabetes.

I saw an elderly patient who was very frightened about the complications of Diabetes. It’s all about keeping your blood Sugars in normal range and when you do that patients can lead very normal life’s. This can be done on Diabetes with healthy eating, carbohydrate counting and medication.

12/02/2022

Our mission in life is not only to survive but to thrive and to do so with some passion and compassion.

I am thrilled with all the great work I have achieved in educating women on perimenopause and menopause but very saddened by the recent assaults to women and the continuing domestic violence against women.

If we are truly to empower women in society they must also be safe to breath, safe to walk and to run, safe to to be free. We all have a duty to demand this of all persons in power, the media, our National Leaders and our Government.

💪🙏❤️

Women and Heart Disease

I have been asked to do a video on Women and Heart Disease. I was delighted to see the seminar with .ie highlighting this during the week. Heart disease is the cause of one in every five female deaths so it is important to know the causes, know your numbers and also to educate women that when oestrogen levels go down as they do with menopause women have the same risk of getting heart disease as men. Please listen to the video.
