Just restocked these gorgeous “Saltee” hand & body soap bars. They are 🧼packed full of natural plant oils & butters and wonderful smelling essential oils! The sea salt 🌊 in the soap is a gentle exfoliator, to aid with hand & body cleansing. The grapefruit & litsea cubeba essential oil combo is refreshing & a great uplifting mood booster! The Himalayan rock salt on top is decoration - I put it there because I think it looks fancy!

Some interesting facts about the inspirations for this gift box.

The Hook Lighthouse - Hook Lighthouse has been guarding the Maritime gate way to Irelands Ancient East for over 800 years.
It is the Oldest Intact Operational Lighthouse in the World.
It is surrounded on three side by open seas, and on a clear day the Saltee islands are clearly visible…. And it’s gorgeous!

The Saltee Islands (two islands) were named by Viking seafarers — Salt ey, where 'Salt' is salt and 'ey' is the Norse word for island.
The islands are an important sanctuary for seabirds, with puffins, gannets, guillemots, razorbills, cormorants, great black-backed gulls, kittiwakes and manx shearwaters all calling the Saltee Islands their home….and they are gorgeous!

Wexford Strawberries - County Wexford is renowned for its strawberries which are reputed to be the best in the whole of Ireland. The quality of the fruit is due to the local soils and the extended sun hours that the sunny south east provides…. And they are gorgeous!

Unmolded these shampoo bars earlier for a very special customer (husband!) - I love making shampoo bars because I know exactly the ingredients that go into it! Plant based, natural & naturally derived, devoid of sulphates, environmentally friendly, ecocert & cosmos certified ingredients, sls free, cleanses without stripping the oils & also the right PH level! I don’t use my traditional soap in my hair as the PH on a soap is generally 8-10. Human scalps are 4.5-5.5, and this shampoo bar I made is around 5. 🙌🥳 My kids got to use the PH strips & learnt about acidic & alkaline levels & why we don’t use soap in our hair. Some people do though 👍. There are so many great shampoo bars on the market with great environmentally friendly & skin loving ingredients. Have you tried them?

To do: labels for some of my latest creations …. This is part of the job that takes the most amount of slog & brain power. Aim: to let the essential oils & designs of the soaps shine through, be sustainable & eco friendly, ensure that all the legal information/INCI names are on the packaging, spell check … and then the hardest part of all, letting go… I love each & every one of my little beauties!!

As Van the man says, “…there’ll be days like this…”. It started off Lucy vs cheese grater dual, which then later turned into this 👉 schlop of soap mess on the studio floor, because of the graters earlier victory over my thumbnail 🙄. … I did preserver however, and some wonderful soaps were created!! 🥁🥁🥁 Peppermint Coffee, Orange Cinnamon Coffee soap, Orange & Lime, and a restock of the Hook Lighthouse.

“Count Verbena” is giving off some eerie vibes 🧛‍♀️🧛- now on the rack for a few weeks & will be ready for Halloween.

Chuffed that todays creation turned out similar to my concept drawing! “Franky the soap” is on the curing rack for 4-6 weeks to be ready for one of my favourite times - Oiche Shamhna, Halloween

I'm heading to a friend’s house tomorrow, so I made her a few of my solid massage bars as a 🎁gift in one of my new molds, aren’t they gorge 😍 - the ingredients include *Cocoa butter* - which is often touted for its ability to hydrate, nourish and improve elasticity in the skin, *Beeswax 🐝*- which protects from environmental irritants plus it's non-comodogenic so allows the skin to breathe, *Shea butter* which is known all over the world for its natural Vit A & E which help regenerate the skin. I've also added in some Sweet Orange essential oil to these bars. They glide on beautifully and I now smell lovely! Obviously I made a few for myself too 😉. All of these natural & nourishing ingredients form a protective barrier over the skin to lock 🔒moisture in. I’ve been making these for years, for myself - but I might include them in Lucy’s Kitchen Crafts gift sets… 🤔💭💬

Did you know that humans have been making Sea salt soaps for years…. 💡They say that it locks moisture into the skin, maintains the skins natural barrier and is a wonderful & gentle exfoliator!

Love this Lemon poppy inspired soap. Handmade here on the Hook Peninsula, by me, for you 🍋💛. Made with a blend of skin loving Shea butter, olive, coconut & castor oils with natural Lemon essential oil & poppy seeds. Available in all the usual places 🛍️🛒

Early start here to wrap & label a “Hook soap” restock.
The wrap that I use on the Glycerine Hook soaps is made from renewable wood pulp and will breakdown, unlike plastic. I also use plastic free sellotape & paper ribbon or natural fibre to tie onto the bamboo soap dish! 🥳

I have lovely memories of getting a coffee & a slice of lemon poppy cake with my sister, when I used to visit her in Köln. Such a treat! This restock of Lemon Poppy loaf always reminds me of this time. It’s off to the curing shelf now & the studio smells lovely 🍋💛

Loofah is natural & grown from the ground - a fantastic, sustainable alternative to plastic sponges!
