Congratulations to the Ephraim Katzir Prize Winners, Prof. Shulamit Michaeli and Prof. Yehudit Bergman!

On behalf of the Weizmann Institute and the FIISEB selection committee, it is with great honor and pleasure to present this prestigious award to these two groundbreaking women in science.

Thank you to Prof. Shulamit Michaeli (Bar-Ilan University) for pioneering and leading groundbreaking research on RNA biology and Prof. Yehudit Bergman (The Hebrew University of Jerusalem) for being at the forefront of pioneering and innovative research on gene regulation.

: Our day began with insightful parallel morning sessions, followed by a coffee break, the exhibition, and a lecture from plenary speaker Donald E. Ingber on Human Organ Chips for Disease Modeling, Drug Development, and Personalized Medicine at the Herods Hotel Eilat.

This afternoon, we celebrate the accomplishments of our 2023 Katzir Award recipients, Prof. Shulamit Michaeli and Prof. Yehudit Bergman – two pioneers who have made significant contributions to the scientific community.

Flash talk prizes will be announced followed by conference closing remarks.

The afternoon will continue with a satellite session: Mind the Gap – How can we crush the gap between the exact sciences and the art of medicine – which will take place from 14:00-18:00 at the Dan Hotel.

Congratulations to the first-ever FISEB Prize winner, Prof. Karen Avraham!

The prestigious FISEB STAR-Award for Scientific Excellence and Leadership recognizes outstanding scholars in biological research and is a testament to their dedication and contribution to advancing the academic community in Israel.

Prof. Karen Avraham’s (Tel Aviv University) contributions to the biomedical field have been truly exceptional and have significantly impacted the advancement of human genetics from basic concepts to innovative therapeutics. Her creative ideas, unwavering commitment, and leadership have inspired many and set a benchmark for others.

Today’s plenary featured world-renowned Prof. Brenda Schulman (Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry) from Germany.

Prof. Schulman has an extensive resume, including PhD studies at MIT, postdocs at MGH Cancer center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering, and is the recipient of the Leibniz Prize and Ernst Jung Prize in Medicine.

The first day of opened with 15 parallel sessions!! The halls are packed with attendees, coming from all over Israel and abroad to learn the latest news in the Biomed industry.

Parallel to ILANIT’s scientific program, a commercial exhibition of products and services will be held throughout the conference (from today-Thursday February 23rd) at the three conference venues – Dan Hotel, Herods Boutique, and Royal Beach Hotel.

Our packed morning set the tone for all there is to experience at the most important conference surrounding biology and translational medicine!

A key gap in biomedical research is translating brilliant ideas into clinically-valid protocols and therapeutic agents that can be applied in real life settings. The satellite symposium will showcase three international speakers who will dive deep on bridging natural and exact sciences, with engineering and medicine. The session will be full of innovative jaw-dropping translational biomedical techniques and inventions - you don't want to miss it!
