We're observing notable transformations that will influence the industry's trajectory for the foreseeable future. In this post, we delve into the five most intriguing industry trends we expect to shape the future. 1. Smart constructions and smart cities In the near future, homes will evolve into autonomous 'intelligent entities,' constantly monitoring and fine-tuning their systems for resource efficiency. They'll even shoot you a notification when it's time for maintenance. 2. Flexible design for indoor transformation Modern technologies strive to create homes that are not only smarter and energy-efficient but also provide an improved environment for the well-being of residents. That's why many architects are increasingly incorporating flexible structures that can be easily modified, enhancing the convenience of the new "work from home" experience. 3. "Alive" houses made of mycelium The construction industry is poised to explore innovative building materials that possess self-healing, self-cleaning properties, are entirely reusable, and can adapt to diverse applications. 4. 3D printed houses According to a report by Grand View Research, the global 3D construction industry is projected to grow by 91% from 2021 to 2028. 3D-printed architecture offers affordable housing, disaster relief shelters, and sustainable construction. Notably, it reduces costs by optimizing material use and speeds up construction, saving time and money. 5. Biophilically designed houses Incorporating elements of nature into buildings is referred to as biophilic design, which goes beyond mere plant placement. It involves enhancing the connection between people and the natural environment in living and working spaces. As these trends continue to evolve, staying informed and embracing change will be key to thriving in this dynamic industry. Itโ€™s just us saying hi from our homely office in Rivne, Ukraine! Recently, we've welcomed many new employees who may not be familiar with our workplace culture, and even long-time employees may not know us as well as they could. So, we wanted to share a glimpse into our life here. Our office opened its doors in October 2021 and quickly expanded to two spacious workspaces, where we still work today. We're located in the heart of the city, which makes finding lunch spots and after-work hangouts a breeze. But what makes our office truly special is our people. With a relatively small team, we have a cozy and friendly atmosphere that makes work hours fly by with the support of our colleagues. During breaks, we enjoy playing board games (who doesnโ€™t, right?) and replenishing our collection of empty pizza boxes. All jokes aside, Rivne office is home to a team of cool professionals who share a friendly bond and know how to enjoy time together effectively. We're excited to continue growing and welcoming new team members into our tight-knit community!

Replenishing one's reading list with interesting professional books takes a special place in our team's personal development plans. As per a report by Markets and Markets, โ€œSoftware is likely to account for a larger share of the building information modeling market by 2025.โ€ Embracing BIM will enable architectural and construction firms to be future-ready. Also, the needs of an architectural firm can change over time. With the help of BIM technology services, a company can adjust its data needs to as little or as much as required, and stay up-to-date. It will be exciting to see how with the help of technology providers, BIM could take us to the next level in the AEC industry.

MYTH: BIM is just for the design and construction process. Owners implement BIM in their project standards to benefit from post-construction features like asset management, facilities maintenance and overall building operations. BIM is future-proof. The inevitability of software changes will not affect the BIM data because it never expires.

Dodge Data & Analytics has been studying BIM in the global AEC industry since 2009. Over that time, BIM adoption has increased significantly, and, as the chart below demonstrates, it is definitely accelerating. According to a recent survey, 37% of the BIM users surveyed started using BIM during or after 2018. A new report from Transparency Market Research predicts the global building information modeling (BIM) market, worth $2.6 billion in 2014, will grow to $11.54 billion by 2022.
