Data is the new gold, and the numbers prove it. A whopping 99% of companies are diving into big investments in data and AI, with 62% spending over $50 million.

Now, in the digital gold rush, the global BIM market is taking center stage. It's not just a buzzword; it's a game-changer. Starting at $7.9 billion in 2022, the BIM market is set to hit $34.2 billion by 2032, boasting an impressive 16% annual growth rate.

Why all the hype? BIM isn't just for construction; it's a visionary tool. Picture a world where every construction detail is simulated before a brick is laid—BIM makes this vision real. As companies invest billions in this transformative technology, the question arises: Is data really as precious as gold? In the BIM world, the answer is a resounding yes!

Are BIM objects really a breakthrough?
The picture below helps put things into perspective!

Unlike CAD, BIM objects go way beyond looks. A BIM object isn't just a digital copy; it's a dynamic and intelligent 3D model that contains every single detail about the product.

About four years ago, a fire engulfed the iconic place that had attracted millions of visitors annually, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. But today, this historical masterpiece is well into its restoration journey, thanks to the incredible capabilities of BIM technology!

The development of the 3D model took over a year to meticulously craft. Workers conducted a 3D scan of the cathedral to analyze how the fire had impacted its structure. Using this data, they painstakingly reconstructed forms and objects, right down to individual building blocks.

The cathedral is expected to open its doors again next year, and even then, the 3D model will continue to play a pivotal role. This includes the potential use of sensors to detect any signs of fire and ensure the safety of this architectural gem.

There is a misconception that BIM is solely for vertical construction. However, this is not the case. More and more civil engineering firms increasingly realize the immense benefits of integrating BIM into their projects. Here's how BIM processes and tools benefit civil engineers:

#1 Achieve more accurate quantity takeoffs more quickly
Say goodbye to the manual and time-consuming quantity takeoff process. BIM tools streamline the task, enabling estimators to provide more precise cost estimates by eliminating the need for data collection and scaling.

#2 Fix problems before they hit the construction site
This is one of the main reasons why civil engineering firms adopt BIM technologies – with BIM, you can identify potential problems, preventing costly errors that impact budgets and timelines.

#3 Project data can be organized and aligned more closely
A common data environment (CDE) model is the backbone of BIM processes. It unifies project information, reducing data duplication, enforcing standards, catching issues early, and simplifying planning.

#4 Efficient data handling
BIM facilitates seamless data sharing with field teams and fleets, reducing time spent on data preparation.

#5 Smoother project coordination
The use of BIM eliminates redundancies and reduces the need for manual data management, allowing coordinators to track and share accurate on-site data across the whole team.

#6 Track and clarify project progress more easily
BIM empowers real-time data flow between the office and the construction site, making for effective control over project changes and progress tracking.

BIM is a game-changer in the construction industry, driving sustainability on multiple fronts. Here's a snapshot of how BIM is making a difference:

Eliminating uncertainties: BIM removes the guesswork, reducing interpretation errors that lead to emissions and wasted materials due to delays and rework.
Prefabrication power: BIM fuels prefabrication and modular construction, accelerating the process and slashing on-site emissions and material waste.
Automated efficiency: Thanks to automated production processes enabled by BIM, carbon emissions during construction are significantly reduced.
Sustainable material choices: BIM allows us to explore sustainable construction variants. For example, precast hollow-core slabs save concrete, steel, and energy, and reduce waste and transport emissions.
Effective planning: BIM aids in meticulous planning and management. It simulates construction sequences, ensuring a structure is buildable before costly changes, and preserving resources.
Visualizing efficiency: With BIM, we can visualize construction layouts, equipment placement, and access, minimizing material waste and preventing project overruns.

In a world focused on sustainability, we are proud that our services help to build a better future for humanity! 🌍

Landing your dream job in BIM field might seem challenging without prior experience, but don’t worry! Tetiana Volchenko, our HR Manager, has some valuable advice to help you kickstart your BIM career. Here are three key points to focus on:

1️⃣ Resume
When applying for BIM positions, your resume is your first impression. Highlight your ability to meet deadlines and mention any specific experiences related to BIM modeling, even if they're minimal. Don't be vague; instead, showcase your practical skills and your enthusiasm for quickly mastering technology.

2️⃣ Portfolio
A strong portfolio can set you apart from other candidates. Even if you lack professional experience, include student projects from your university days or create a small BIM model specifically for your portfolio. Showcasing your dedication and potential is key.

3️⃣ Cover Letter
Unlike resumes and portfolios, your cover letter should be customized for each job application. Pay attention to specific job requirements and any unique requests, such as secret words in the subject line. Use your cover letter to explain why you're the perfect fit for the position despite your lack of experience.

In the competitive world of BIM, a well-crafted resume, a compelling portfolio, and personalized cover letters can make all the difference. Don't let your lack of experience hold you back.

We're observing notable transformations that will influence the industry's trajectory for the foreseeable future. In this post, we delve into the five most intriguing industry trends we expect to shape the future.

1. Smart constructions and smart cities

In the near future, homes will evolve into autonomous 'intelligent entities,' constantly monitoring and fine-tuning their systems for resource efficiency. They'll even shoot you a notification when it's time for maintenance.

2. Flexible design for indoor transformation

Modern technologies strive to create homes that are not only smarter and energy-efficient but also provide an improved environment for the well-being of residents. That's why many architects are increasingly incorporating flexible structures that can be easily modified, enhancing the convenience of the new "work from home" experience.

3. "Alive" houses made of mycelium

The construction industry is poised to explore innovative building materials that possess self-healing, self-cleaning properties, are entirely reusable, and can adapt to diverse applications.

4. 3D printed houses

According to a report by Grand View Research, the global 3D construction industry is projected to grow by 91% from 2021 to 2028. 3D-printed architecture offers affordable housing, disaster relief shelters, and sustainable construction. Notably, it reduces costs by optimizing material use and speeds up construction, saving time and money.

5. Biophilically designed houses

Incorporating elements of nature into buildings is referred to as biophilic design, which goes beyond mere plant placement. It involves enhancing the connection between people and the natural environment in living and working spaces.

As these trends continue to evolve, staying informed and embracing change will be key to thriving in this dynamic industry. Stay ahead of the curve by following us for more insights in the field of construction and architecture. 🌟

This is what ChatGPT thinks about AI replacing architects.

While AI can certainly enhance and streamline certain aspects of architectural design and analysis, these barriers highlight the limitations of AI in fully replacing architects. These barriers include:

1. Creativity and design sensibility. AI can generate designs, but it may struggle to replicate the nuanced and context-specific creativity that architects bring to their work.

2. Human collaboration. The communicative aspects of architecture are difficult for AI to replicate, especially when it comes to understanding and responding to the unique preferences of each client.

3. Contextual understanding. Architects need to consider a wide range of factors when designing buildings, such as local climate, culture, regulations, and the specific needs of the client. AI systems may lack the ability to fully understand and integrate all these variables.

4. Ethical considerations. Architects must consider the societal implications of their designs, including issues related to accessibility and sustainability. AI may not have the moral judgment required to make these decisions.

5. Unpredictable challenges. Architectural projects often encounter unexpected changes during construction. Architects need to adapt and problem-solve in real-time, which can be difficult for AI.
