בשל המצב בישראל מאז ה-7/10 ויתרתי השנה על הדבר האהוב עלי… לנשום את אוויר החורף הקריר והצונן בעודי גולש בזריזות על פניו של הר מכוסה שלג. לכן, כששמעתי על ההזדמנות לנסוע צפונה לטפל בחיילים הגיבורים שלנו שנמצאים בשלג של החרמון התרגשתי מאוד.

בנופים המשגעים של הצפון המפונה עלינו להר. עברנו באישור מיוחד את השער האחרון, פעם ראשונה בחיי על החרמון, והגענו לבסיס. שם פגשתי את טובי בנינו. בנים ובנות שכבר מעל ארבעה חודשים משרתים שם, על ההר, בין סוריה מצד אחד, ללבנון מצד שני. אנשים מזהב טהור שעולמם השתנה מאוד בחודשים האחרונים.

היתה לי זכות גדולה להגיע, להכיר ולטפל בכם. מעריך את המסירות והנחישות שלכם. תודה שאתם שומרים עלינו!

התמכרתי.
אני מודה. זה נותן לי משמעות בחיים. גורם לי להרגיש שאני עושה משהו טוב. בימים קשים וכואבים אלה אין הרבה דברים שאני יכול להגיד שעושים לי טוב.

אני אוהב לראות את זיו פניהם של החיילים הגיבורים שלנו, אלו שנלחמים בנחישות וגבורה למען המדינה שלנו, למעננו.

הם מוארים ומלאי תודה שהם קמים ממיטת הטיפולים הניידת שלי, אותה אני מרכיב בחדר עם עוד עשרות מטפלים מכורים כמוני שמגיעים להתנדב ולחזק את הבריאות של כוחותינו בשטח.

אני כל-כך שמח לשמוע בסוף הטיפול ״זה בדיוק מה שהייתי צריך״, ״וואו אני לא מרגיש את הגב שלי״, ״אני סוף סוף אצליח לישון הלילה״.

התמכרתי כי אני, כמו כל עם ישראל, העורף המחבק, רוצה לתת מעצמי מה שאפשר כדי להקל על העומס והאחריות שנחתה על גבם מאז ה- 7 לאוקטובר. זה גם עוזר להפחית את תחושת חוסר האונים שפוקדת את נשמתנו, האזרחים בעורף.

לטפל בחיילים הגיבורים שלנו זה המינימום שאני יכול לתת מעצמי, כדי לחזק ולשפר את חייהם והתפקוד שלהם.

רוצה להגיד תודה למי שאירגנה את הפעילות המבורכת הזאת ולכל המטפלים הנפלאים וגם למתנדבים האלופים שהכינו את האוכל הטעים לכולנו. כל הכבוד.

The feeling I get when I look at the Zenos Frudakis sculpture “Freedom”(picture) is my wish for all in the coming year 2024. The feeling of elation, release, and an unbearable lightness of being that is elicited in my soul by the naked bronze form of one who has broken free from bo***ge is overwhelming. Although the feeling is buttressed by the pain and frustration of those behind him still struggling to win release from the darkness, I focus on him. On freedom. My attention is on the faith I hold that they all are coming home.

May 2024 bring with it freedom for the hostages in Gaza. Freedom for our soldiers to return to their families and loved ones. Freedom for the traumatized. Freedom from the deepest sorrows of loss. Freedom from the moral imperative and infinite price of fighting a necessary and just war. Freedom to be. Freedom to be a people, free in our Land.

As we start 2024 well in the grip of the darkness the evil of Hammas brought to our daily reality, my wish is that each in our own way find a way to begin to break free, even ever so slightly, like the the one in the sculpture. Breaking free from the horror and the trauma, from fear, from the sorrow, and from this crushing black weight that we carry. May we lift our tear stained eyes and our weary heads, rise from the ashes and step into the sun, shedding a skin that no longer fits, and moving forward with everything within us to bring the light of flourishing once again. AMEN!

בסוף יהיה … טוב

״בסוף יהיה… יהיה טוב״, לוחשת לי יסמין מועלם בקול החודר שלה מבעד לרמקולים באוטו. ״הפרחים ישובו לפרוח… תראה שיהיה טוב״, היא לוחשת שוב ושוב בלופ כל הדרך דרומה. אני לא משתכנע לגמרי. אני מזכיר לעצמי שאם בסוף יהיה טוב ועכשיו לא טוב, זה רק סימן שזה לא הסוף. ״גם אם יש עוד דרך לעבור״, היא לוחשת לי כקוראת מחשבות, ״בסוף יהיה טוב״

עכשיו לא טוב. הפעם אני מגיע לשדה תימן לטפל בלוחמי יק״פ 156, יחידת הקבורה שאחראית על הטיפול בחיילי צה”ל מרגע המוות ועד שעת הקבורה. וזה כולל סריקה, איסוף הגופה והדם מהסביבה, ניקוי השטח, העברת הגופה, שחזורה, זיהויה, ואישור נסיבת המוות. להביט למת בעיניים. ולגעת במת בידיים. עכשיו לא טוב כי הם עסוקים ויש להם עבודה רבה . וככה פגשתי את מאיר, ודניאל, וישראל הענק (2 מטר גובה), וירון המוסיקאי שהוא גם מורה, ועוד ועוד בחורים שהם גיבורים שקטים עם חוסן נפשי עצום.

כל מלחמה מוכרזת מעשית כמלחמה ברגע שחיילי היק”פ מקבלים צו 8, אז אתה יודע שזה רציני, כמו ב-7 לאוקטובר. אז אתה יודע שיש משפחות שלעולם לא יחזרו להיות אותו דבר.

שיהיה זכרם של הנופלים שלנו ברוך. שנחבק חזק את משפחות השכול. שתהיה עבודתם של יק״פ 156 ברוך.

לב שבור 💔

״הלב שלי כואב”, אמרה הילדה העליזה בד״כ בת ה-8 כשהיא עולה על שולחן הטיפולים שלי. כשהיא מגיעה למרפאה היא מתלוננת על כאבים בכף היד או על כאבים בברך או בגב, היא פעילה מאוד בחוג היפ הופ ורכיבה על סוסים.
“הלב שלי”, היא אמרה שוב כשהתחלתי לבדוק אותה. במהלך הטיפול שוחחנו והיא סיפרה לי למה הלב שלה כואב. ניסיתי להרגיע אותה ואמרתי לה שנעבור את זה ביחד. לאחר הטיפול שלה, בזמן שטיפלתי באמה, היא ישבה ליד השולחן שלי וציירה לי את הציור הזה. מאוחר יותר, כשסיימתי לעבוד הסתכלתי על הציור שלה, וראיתי שהיא ציירה לב שבור ומשני צדדיו כנפיים. אני חושב שהיא יודעת שבקרוב הלב השבור שלה ילמד לעוף.

הָ֭רֹפֵא לִשְׁב֣וּרֵי לֵ֑ב וּ֝מְחַבֵּ֗שׁ לְעַצְּבוֹתָֽם

To all the female supremacists who said to me in 2008 that if “Lehman Brothers had been Lehman Sisters there would have been no financial crisis”, or the latest, “if women were leading Israel 7/10 would not have happened”.

I despise these types of statements first and foremost because they are sexist, and sexism should not be tolerated, and also because they are simply counterproductive to human flourishing.

Something to consider. Today, a majority of Ivy League Universities have female presidents. According to female supremacist ideology, ״if men were leading the Ivy League Universities, Jewish students would feel safe on campus”. Just saying…

גשם כבד ירד כשעזבתי את תל אביב, הפעם יצאתי צפונה. הגעתי לבסיס שהות זמנית של יחידת החילוץ 669, השמיים היו מעט יותר בהירים מעל לבסיס חיל האוויר, ברקע רעש ההמראות החזק של ה- F-16.
המפגש עם החיילים מיחידת העילית שבחודשיים האחרונים פועלים ללא הרף בחילוץ פצועים בקרב, לעיתים תחת אש. לראות את תנאי העבודה שלהם מקרוב כל כך, עזר לי להעריך את האתגרים הפיזיים שהגיבורים הצעירים והאמיצים הללו עומדים בפניהם וזאת כדי לממש משימות מצילות חיים.
משקל ציוד המגן שלהם, כלי הנשק, ציוד הרפואה, הסעת פצועים, מעורבות בקרב, סחיבת פצועים למסוק, עזרה ראשונה בבטן המסוק, כל אלו מוכרעים על גבם של הגיבורים מיחידה 669.
אני מודה על ההזדמנות להכיר אתכם ולעזור להקל על חלק מהמתח והלחץ שעל גבכם. שאלוהים ישמור עליכם שתמשיכו לשרת באומץ ובמקצועיות שאין שני לה, עד שהאור יגרש את החושך אתם באמת מצילי חיים!

The rain came down in torrents as I left Tel Aviv, this time heading north. The skies somewhat clearer over the air force base, but thundered and roared with the sounds of F-16 takeoffs, as I arrived at the temporary quarters of the Special Tactics Rescue Unit 669 unit I came to care for. The elite soldiers have been serving tirelessly for the past two months rescuing the wounded in battle, often under fire. Seeing their working conditions first hand helped me appreciate the physical challenges these fine young heros face in carrying out their critical life saving missions. The weight of their protective equipment, their weapons, their medical supplies, carrying wounded, engaging in battle, loading and unloading wounded, and administration of first aid in the tight quarters of the belly of a helicopter all put stress and strain on the backs of the 669. I am grateful for the opportunity to get to know and help ease some of the stress and strain from your backs. May God keep you all in safety as you continue to serve with excellence and professionalism, until the skies clear as the darkness is vanquished, and a new day dawns. You are truly lifesavers!

I had the privilege of heading south to treat our finest soldiers who are on the front line. I met amazingly brave and determined young men who, after many long weeks of living 24/7 fully geared up, were suffering from very sore and tight back pain. Godspeed to you all. Emotional trauma, rather than physical, is the most common form of trauma, and can manifest in a spectrum of psychological and physical symptoms. These manifestations within our physical beings encompass not only pain and stiffness, but a dramatic decline in overall physical well-being. Hamas and radical Islam are ANTI-CIVILIZATION. This is a wake-up call to the civilized West.

Saving the future from HAMAS/ISIS/EVIL is an unyielding quest, a heroic endeavor that beckons the valiant to stand against the shadows that threaten to engulf our country, and ultimately the world. It is a relentless battle, fought with courage and conviction, where light triumphs over darkness. With unwavering determination, we pave the path to a brighter tomorrow, where hope and love thrive. Each act of kindness, innovation, and unity becomes a building block, fortifying our aspirations for a future illuminated by the radiance of compassion, progress, and dreams fulfilled. As we join hands and hearts, we forge a destiny free from the base malevolence of HAMAS, brimming with the promise of a better Israel, and a better Israel means a better world.

A ceasefire would only increase the destruction and loss of innocent lives, both Israeli and Palestinian. Every passing moment that HAMAS/ISIS/EVIL continues to exists is one second closer to the next manifestation of their vile barbarism on humanity. When HAMAS is eliminated we will finally experience a ceasefire that they cannot violate, as they did to all prior ceasefires, including the ceasefire that was in place on October 6th, 2023.

Vasily Grossman’s powerful insight reveals that antisemitism reflects deeper societal and personal flaws. Accusing Jews often uncovers the prejudice and injustices within individuals, social systems, and state structures. Grossman’s words emphasize the need for self-reflection and addressing the root causes of bigotry within our societies. Stop antisemitism.

We must choose faith that a better future is possible.

Search your heart, search your soul. Which side of humanity and which side of history do you stand. Be human. Stand for Israel.

If you can’t be part of the solution, at the very least don’t be a part of the problem. Don’t let yourself be manipulated and weaponized by brutal terrorists. Critical thinking is the key.

Israel does not simply have ‘the right to defend herself’. Israel, as a Nation of Light, carries the weight of the moral imperative to eradicate evil whenever it manifests: for the sake of her citizens, and for all humanity.
