Today is Tu Bโ€™shvat - the Jewish New Year for Trees ๐ŸŒณ.

The peak of winter is selected to mark the New Year of the Trees, teaching us that this holiday is not about reaping the fruits of our efforts; instead, it is a time to โ€œinvest in the futureโ€ through planting, waiting and believing.

Although we do not see immediate results, we still need to care for what we plant and to strengthen our resolve to be patient.

To honor Tu Bโ€™shvat, today we will be exploring Tree Pose ๐ŸŒฒ (Vrksasana in Sanskrit) .

Once you fully perfect your Tree Pose, the benefits are going to start making themselves known pretty quickly.

These include:

No matter how excited we may be for upcoming travel, I think itโ€™s safe to say that no one actually enjoys the plane ride itself โœˆ๏ธ .

Swollen feet, achy backs, tight hips, and sore necks are simply not anyoneโ€™s cup of tea.

So, how can we combat the dreaded plane ride?

Yoga, of course! ๐Ÿง˜

You just have to get a little bit creative in your seat to see that yoga is a practice that can be done anywhere, anytime.

In Sanskrit, the word kriyฤ means โ€˜movementโ€™ which refers to the internal movement of consciousness.

Kriya yoga (yoga in the form of action) is one of the fastest processes for awakening consciousness and its purpose is to evolve the mind to a point where we can experience our true nature.

Kriya yoga is a combination of poses, breathing techniques, mantras and awareness used to unlock energy channels in the body.

The sequence of each kriya is meant to enable subtle and direct changes in the body and mind of the practitioner, and a specific kriya sequence can support a specific body part or organ, such as the intestines, liver, spinal column, etc.

When done with compassion and patience, you can truly illuminate your mind with inner wisdom, discover the happiness that lasts, and increase inner peace that can not be taken away by outer circumstances.
