Olehly tip of the week ๐Ÿค“

As a consumer in Israel it's important to know your rights, and as an "Oleh Hadash" - you have special rights!

I think we can all attest to the fact that Israeli salespeople are some of the best in the world. We've all been there; convinced to sign up for a service or buy a product we didn't need in the first place, only to face some serious buyers guilt afterwards ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

The good news is that according to Israeli Consumer Law, you can cancel a transaction within 14 days and receive a refund.

In even BETTER news, an amendment was made in 2016 to this law that gave additional rights to Olim Hadashim (up to 5 years in Israel), senior citizens (over the age of 65), and people with disabilities. This amendment allows for the cancelation of transactions up to 4 months after purchasing instead of within 14 days! ๐Ÿฅณ

That said, there are different types of transactions relating to where and how you purchase that may have slightly different cancellation policies. For example: in a store, online or from a vendor. Always make sure to ask about the cancellation/return policy before making a purchase, and if you ever need assistance cancelling a transaction, feel free to give us a call!

An important update regarding "BIDUD"!

The Ministry of Health announced new procedures this morning relating to how long a person who has tested positive for corona needs to spend in isolation.

The old procedure stipulated that after having received a positive result, one would then need to receive two negative test results in order to be released from Bidud.

This is has now been changed and the new procedure is as follows:
- The minimum amount of time one will spend in isolation is 13 days
This is calculated by counting 10 days from the time one starts experiencing symptoms + 3 days of having no symptoms
- At the end of these 13 days, a doctors approval must be given in order to end bidud. No further tests are required.

For those who have come into contact with someone who has been diagnosed with corona, but have not tested positive for the virus, the isolation procedure has not changed and remains at 14 days from exposure.

Fresh in Israel and overwhelmed by Israeli bureaucracy? We can help!

For non-Hebrew speakers, navigating the admin of daily life in Israel is a series of contracts filled with fine print and hidden costs. It seems easier to just pay the price and accept things for what they are, right? Wrong.

Olehly was created to be the on-demand Hebrew speaker, for those times when you wish you were a little extra Israeli. We provide Hebrew-speaking services to solve all of your administrative challenges.

Do any of these make you break into a sweat?

- Reviewing rental or employment agreements in Hebrew?
- Getting overcharged for services you don't need or thought you had cancelled?
- Moving between apartments and opening new accounts for Arnona, Electricity, Water and Gas?
- Setting up or cancelling your phone or internet packages?
- Calling the credit card company to dispute a charge you didnโ€™t authorize?
- Receiving medical assistance, contacting your kupat holim for a tofes 17, or booking an appointment with a specialist?
- Dealing with an unreasonable landlord?
- Finding a reliable insurance agent?
- Converting your drivers license?
- Filling out administrative forms in Hebrew?
- Changing service providers and being over quoted because of your accent?
- Opening a new business?
- Creating a CV tailored to the Israeli job market?

At Olehly, we are on a mission to make sure that everyone gets treated fairly, and that your language and cultural barriers do not make you a โ€œfreierโ€.

We have been around the block long enough to know exactly how to take care of any bureaucratic issue in the fastest way possible. We review, negotiate, argue and resolve issues on your behalf and make sure that your best interests are always the number one priority!
