⚠️ Visa applicants – We know that a large number of you have experienced significant wait times with your applications. We understand many have not received visa decisions and have had to adjust travel plans, despite having applied several weeks or months in advance.

We understand your frustration and disappointment and want to assure you that we are working to improve the situation. In fact, we have been processing applications through out the year, including study permits for the September 2022 intake.

Many thousands of students in India are receiving their visas each week. We will continue to make every effort to reduce wait times against an unprecedented volume of applications received.

The current processing time for study permit applications globally (including Student Direct Stream) is 12 weeks. While processing times in India have been higher in 2022, we are making every effort to reduce wait times in our services globally.

We urge students who are still waiting the outcome of their visa applications at this stage to contact their Designated Learning Institution in Canada to discuss options should they be unable to arrive in time for the start of classes.

Start thinking about your Student visa application.
You should apply in July if possible rather than waiting until August as Priority and Super Priority visas are currently unavailable globally.

🚨 Students! UKVI strongly recommend that students apply for their visa as early as possible as decisions are taking 5 weeks to process. We receive high levels of applications in August so you should start to prepare and submit your application form now.

If you are waiting for your CAS reference number, you can prepare your supporting documents in the meantime. You will need:

* Current passport/travel documentation
* Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) reference number

Depending on your personal circumstances and where you are applying from, you may also need:

* Proof of English language proficiency.
* Proof that you can pay for your course fees and maintenance for one academic year. The amount will depend on your personal circumstances.

* Consent from a parent or guardian if under 18
* Copies of your education certificates

* ATAS certificate (course dependent) https://www.gov.uk/guidance/academic-technology-approval-scheme -visitors

UK Visa Update: UK Visas and Immigration continues to prioritise Ukraine Visa Scheme applications in response to the humanitarian crisis caused by the invasion of Ukraine, so applications for study, work and family visas are taking longer to process.

Standard Visitor visas are also currently taking an average of 6 weeks to process due to increased global demand.

Priority (PV) and Super Priority (SPV) visa services have also been temporarily suspended for new study, work and family visa applications. In some locations PV and SPV are still available for Visitor visa applications, but these can only be purchased via our commercial partner website.

From 11 May 2022, the decision waiting time if you’re applying to settle in the UK has changed. You should now get a decision within 24 weeks once you attend your appointment at the Visa Application Centre (VAC).

UKVI are working to reduce the current processing time as quickly as possible and apologises for any inconvenience caused. You will be contacted by the visa application centre when your passport is ready for collection. Do not attend the VAC until you have been invited to do so.
