Points to consider while designing lighting for a home theatre room-

1- Direct light on the screen should be avoided

2- Indirect lights should be used to give better ambience

3- Lower wattage with more number of light fittings to be preferred for even lux level around the room.

4- As far as possible, keep lights away from the path between the screen and the projector.

5- Use dimmable lights, so better eye comfort, and also for better perceived picture quality.

6- Always recommend path/emergency/exit lights for emergencies.

Tech Tuesday is back.

You need a 4K TV... obviously

The first thing you’re going to need is a 4K TV – that’s pretty much obvious. 4K TVs are generally 2160p – which means a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels

Check your broadband package

Now, if you’re going to be streaming 4K content, you’re going to need to have a pretty quick internet connection. Well, in this era of fibre that’s not a problem. Netflix recommends a connection of at least 25Mbps.
The average India broadband speed is 39.65Mbps, so most of us should be good to stream 4k.
US average is about 60Mbps, and UK is 64Mbps

How to stream in 4K

Now, finally, you’re going to need a 4K streaming device. If you have a 4K television then the chances are it will be a smart TV which will have a Netflix and Prime app. Provided you have all of the requirements above, this should suffice.
Often, however, an external device will give you the best experience -
* Apple TV 4K
* Xbox One X
* PS4 Pro

Cable Doesn’t Support 4K Yet

For whatever reason, you can’t get cable in 4K. The high-resolution format has been around for a long time, but it’s generally useless if you’re just watching cable TV. Some set-top boxes support 4K streaming, but don’t let the cable company fool you, cable TV maxes out at 1080p.

Ultra HD is twice the resolution of Full HD. That directly and indirectly means that there are twice as more pixels per square inch in a UHD image as compared to a full HD image, hence giving a much sharper image and better picture quality.
