Mr. Mohammad Aslam is an accomplished individual with years of research experience in the chemical engineering field, and he has graciously agreed to share his insights and expertise with us. P&ID (PIPING AND INSTRUMENTATION DIAGRAM) VS PFD (PROCESS FLOW DIAGRAM)

There are two main types of process diagrams: process and instrument diagrams (P&IDs) and process flow diagrams (PFDs) (PFDs). A PFD is more of an overview of a process, while a P&ID is more detailed.

A flow diagram is a simple picture that shows the main flow path through the production equipment with process symbols. It gives a quick look at the operating unit and has symbols for all the main equipment and pipes that can be used to see how the well stream moves through the equipment. There are no secondary flows, complex control loops, or instrumentation. These PFDs are better for giving information to visitors and training new employees.

• Field technicians, engineers, and operators use P&IDs to learn more about how the process works and how the instruments are connected to each other.

• P&IDs are used by salespeople and OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to specify equipment and build vessels.

Glycerin is used instead of other materials (such as water) because of its low vapour pressure and high flash point (excellent thermal resistance), low coefficient of friction (excellent lubricant), and non-toxicity. Glycerin is a dependable, affordable, and safe option for dampening vibrations in pressure gauges used in demanding applications.

It is one of the oil and gas "supermajors" and by revenue and profits is consistently one of the largest companies in the world. Measured by both its own emissions, and the emissions of all the fossil fuels it sells, Shell was the ninth-largest corporate producer of greenhouse gas emissions in the period 1988–2015.

Shell named Wael Sawan, head of its integrated gas and renewables division, on Thursday as the group's chief executive officer, replacing Ben van Beurden, with the energy major at the cusp of a transition to cleaner energy.
Sawan, a Lebanese-Canadian citizen, joined Shell 25 years ago and has served on the oil giant's executive committee since 2019, initially as head of its oil and gas production division. He had been seen as the frontrunner to succeed Van Beurden since moving to his present role last October.

* Born in 1974, Sawan has been heading Shell's integrated gas, renewables and energy solutions division since November 2021

* A Canadian citizen of Lebanese origin, Sawan is an alumni of Harvard Business School and completed his engineering from Canada's McGill University

* Sawan joined Shell in 1997 and has been a member of the group's executive committee for three years now * Before taking up his current role, Sawan was director of Shell's upstream business where he oversaw the divestment of the Permian business and decision to exit onshore Nigeria

* Sawan also had stints with Shell's deepwater and Qatar operations

Greetings from SPE AMU Student Chapter!!

The rapid growth of the petroleum industry is accompanied by the development of various physical and chemical methods for the testing of petroleum products. To know more about such methods we are organizing a two day interactive workshop on "Petroleum Product Testing Methods" in collaboration with RGIPT.

Our esteemed speaker for the theoretical session would be Dr. Shikha Singh, DST-INSPIRE Faculty at RGIPT, Jais. She has completed her Ph.D. at the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University. The second day will be demonstration session by Faculty and Students of Department of Petroleum Studies, AMU Aligarh.

We hope you all will attend this informative session and will make the most out of this golden opportunity.
