High arch is an arch that is raised more than normal. The arch runs from the toes to the heel on the bottom of the foot. It is also called pes cavus. High arch is the opposite of flat feet.
Flat foot: A condition in which the entire sole of the foot touches the floor when standing.
Flat feet can occur during childhood if the arches of the feet don't develop, after an injury or from the wear and tear of ageing.
KYPHOSIS :
A forward rounding of the back.
Hunchback (kyphosis) usually refers to an abnormally curved spine. It's most common in older women and often related to osteoporosis.
SCOLIOSIS :
A sideways curvature of the spine.
Scoliosis occurs most often during the growth spurt just before puberty.
PHYSIOTHERAPY!!
SCOLIOSIS ➡️
Scoliosis is a disorder that causes an abnormal curve of the spine, or backbone. There is a normal spinal curve when looking from the side, but the spine should appear straight when looking from the front. Kyphosis is a curve in the spine seen from the side in which the spine is bent forward. There is a normal kyphosis in the middle (thoracic) spine. Lordosis is a curve seen from the side in which the spine is bent backward. There is a normal lordosis in the upper (cervical) spine and the lower spine or lumbar spine. People with scoliosis develop additional curves to either side of the body, and the bones of the spine twist on each other, forming a C or an S-shaped or scoliosis curve in the spine. Scoliosis ranges from 10-20 degrees (mild), 20-50 degrees (moderate), and severe (greater than 50 degrees).
What Is PHYSIOTHERAPY??
! POSTURE DEFORMITIES !
! KNEE DEFORMITIES !
➡️ Genu valgum : commonly called "knock-knee", is a condition in which the knees angle in and touch each other when the legs are straightened. Individuals with severe valgus deformities are typically unable to touch their feet together while simultaneously straightening the legs.
➡️ Genu varum : (also called bow-leggedness, bandiness, bandy-leg, and tibia vara), is a varus deformity marked by (outward) bowing at the knee, which means that the lower leg is angled inward (medially) in relation to the thigh's axis, giving the limb overall the appearance of an archer's bow. Usually medial angulation of both lower limb bones (femur and tibia) is involved.
Postural Dysfunctions That Causes Back Pain !
➡️ Backward Tipped Pelvis : It occurs when the pelvis rotates backward, causing the front to rise and the back to drop. It is caused by lengthening of the hip flexors and shortening of the hip extensors. As with anterior pelvic tilt, sitting for long periods of time, inactivity, and poor posture all contribute to posterior pelvic tilt.
➡️ Forward Head And Neck : iHunch (also called iPosture, forward head posture, poking chin posture, wearsie neck, computer neck, upper crossed syndrome, text neck, and dowager's hump.) is the common spinal problem of an excessively kyphotic (hunched) thoracic spine driving neck pain and cervicogenic headache.
➡️ High Right Pelvis : A lateral pelvic tilt is when the pelvis shifts side to side, so much that one hip is higher than the other. This leads to unilateral muscle imbalances throughout the body. The erector spinae muscle group often affects this tilt and should always be addressed in this situation.
➡️ Forward Tipped Pelvis : An anterior pelvic tilt is when your pelvis is rotated forward, which forces your spine to curve. It’s often caused by excessive sitting without enough exercise and stretching to counteract the effects of sitting all day. If you have an anterior pelvic tilt you may notice that the muscles in the front of your pelvis and thighs are tight, while the ones in the back are weak. Your gluteus and abdominal muscles may also be weak.

Do You Stretch This Muscle ?
➡️ Ever noticed a lingering ache deep in your low back after prolonged sitting or standing? When your back muscles are weak or you have poor posture, intrinsic rectangular muscles between your ribs and hips called the QUADRATUS LUMBORUM or QLS, work overtime to stabilize your spine and pelvis, leaving them tight and sore.
Good posture is about more than standing up straight so you can look your best.
It is an important part of your long-term health.
Making sure that you hold your body the right way, whether you are moving or still, can prevent pain, injuries, and other health problems.
! DEGENERATIVE DISC DISEASE !
🔸️ Osteoarthritis of the spine, usually in the neck or lower back.
This is a condition of the discs between vertebrae with loss of cushioning, fragmentation and herniation related to ageing.
⏺ MENiSCus TEARS ⏺
▶️ The meniscus plays a vital role in knee joint health by increasing knee joint space and contact area, reducing localized stress, and buffering against rotational and axial shear force.
▶️ Meniscus injury may alter normal joint movement leading to increased peak contact stress and accelerated osteoarthritis.
▶️ Take a look below to learn more about the different types:
1️⃣ Longitudinal:
🔸️Sometimes called a vertical tear, where a component of the tear is seen extending in a vertical orientation parallel to the circumference of the meniscus.
🔸️Tend to occur in younger patients following significant knee trauma.
🔸️Often associated with significant knee injuries, especially anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears.
🔸️Almost always involve the posterior horn (often the peripheral third)
2️⃣ Bucket Handle:
🔸️A type of displaced Longitudinal meniscal tear where the inner part is displaced centrally.
🔸️ More commonly occur in the medial meniscus and are often associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears.
3️⃣ Radial:
🔸️Extends radially from the free edge of the meniscus and runs perpendicular to the tibial plateau.
🔸️Often disrupt the hoop strength of the meniscus with resultant loss of function and possible meniscal extrusion.
🔸️Can occur anywhere but tend to occur mostly at the posterior horn of the medial meniscus and the junction of the anterior horn and body of the lateral meniscus.
4️⃣ Parrot Beak:
🔸️ A type of oblique meniscal tear which is connected in one plane and displaced in the other plane.
🔸️ Its appearance is curved like a crescent and is likened to that of a parrot's beak or curved V- shape.
5️⃣ Horizontal:
🔸️Also known as a ' Cleavage Tear'.
🔸️ Oriented horizontally, parallel to the tibial plateau.
🔸️Associated with having a discoid meniscus.
🔸️ The most common type of tear to be associated with a meniscal cyst.
6️⃣ Flap:
🔸️Usually comprised of a displaced flap fragment.
🔸️Occur 6-7 times more frequently in the medial meniscus.
➡️ NOTE : Having a meniscus tear does not automatically mean that you need surgery!
! RADIAL NERVE MOBILIZATION !
▶️ The mobilization of the radial nerve alters pain threshold in the periphery and these effects reduce pain in the short-term in patients with lateral elbow pain. This is because, as neural tension decreases, pain is decreased related to movement or bodily position restoring normal movement.
! Mobilizing the Ulnar Nerve !
The ulnar is the most exposed of all nerves and ranks second only to the median nerve (carpal tunnel syndrome) as an arm and hand pain generator. Irritation of the ulnar nerve can present as tingling, pain and numbness in the pinky and ring fingers sometimes in a shocking way as the flexed elbow strikes an object compressing it against bone.
⏺
Like a telephone cable, the ulnar nerve passes through a protective tunnel behind the elbow’s medial epicondyle or funny bone forming what is called the ‘cubital tunnel’. When the ulnar nerve is compressed or entrapped, the nerve can tear and become inflamed leading to a variety of symptoms, called Cubital Tunnel Syndrome.
▶️ Position of Patient to Mobilize the Ulnar Nerve:
1. Elbow Flexion and Wrist Extension
Equipment needed: none
Nerve targeted: ulnar nerve
➡️Sit tall and reach the affected arm out to the side, level with your shoulder, with the hand facing the floor.
➡️Flex your hand and pull your fingers up toward the ceiling.
➡️Bend your arm and bring your hand toward your shoulders.
Repeat slowly 5 times.
2. Head Tilt
Equipment needed: none
Nerve targeted: ulnar nerve
