Gum Abscess in Children: What Parents Need To Know?
🦷An abscess is a localized infection that can occur anywhere in the body and often appears as a swelling with pus. Abscesses occur as part of your immune system’s attempt to fight the infection.
Gum Abscess Symptoms
🦷Child experiences pain in the affected part of the gum tissue due to the pressure of the trapped pus.
🦷The abscess can cause redness or swelling in the face, and the gums may look shiny, swollen, and red.
🦷Your child may also complain of a bad taste in their mouth, or you may notice that their breath smells bad.
Treatments for Gum Abscesses
If you think your child has a gum abscess, take them to a dentist right away.
Gum abscess treatment involves eliminating the cause of the infection and draining the buildup of pus. Your child will feel better once the abscess has been treated. They may be prescribed medications to help with any lingering pain. Antibiotics may also be prescribed if the infection is severe.
Preventing a Gum Abscess in Children
Regular brushing and flossing can help keep a painful gum abscess away. Children’s teeth should be brushed twice a day (morning and night), starting as soon as their first tooth erupts.
Treating cavities in babies and young children is vital for maintaining good oral health, as teeth play an important role in your child’s development. If your child has cavities, consult your Pedodontist.
FAQ: When Is It Time To Teach My Child About Flossing?
As soon as your child’s teeth are touching, food particles and bacteria can accumulate between the teeth. Make flossing a part of your child’s daily routine early.
A brighter, whiter smile can boost your confidence, help you make an excellent first impression, and make you feel better. Get your healthy, white smile with us 🦷🌟🦷
Pro Tip: If you ever knock out a tooth, put it in a glass of milk to help keep it alive until you can make it to a dentist.
To eat, or not to eat? FRESH vs. DRIED fruit:
When fruit is dried and water is removed, the sugars become concentrated, causing the fruit to be chewy and sticky.
Although a healthy snack either way, we recommend eating fruit raw when possible. While dried fruit will stick to your teeth, fibers in fresh fruit naturally scrub away bacteria.
How Early Should You Consider Braces For Your Child??
How do you know if a cavity has reached the nerve?

1. Toothache when pressure (such as chewing) is applied to the tooth.
2.Tooth sensitivity to heat or cold.
3.Discoloration of the tooth.

5 common reasons why your jaws hurt?
Did you know there are more than 30
Temporomandibular disorders that impact your jaw, causing pain and dysfunction in the jaw joint and muscles that control jaw movement? If you experience pain in your jaws that radiates to your face or neck, don't neglect it as it can also be a symptom of a heart attack. To know more, contact us!
What are early childhood caries?
Early Childhood Caries (ECC) is a type of tooth decay that affects baby teeth, resulting in early tooth loss for children under the age of 6 years.
In Early Childhood Caries the first clinical observation of demineralization in enamel is the white spot lesion ( WSL's)
A) WSL •
is characterized by enamel demineralization of
the subsurface, with increasing porosity due to the removal of minerals into the outer surface. At this stage, the caries lesion is usually reversible.
B) Shows progression from WSL lesion to demineralised spots, which are irreversible and needs the dentist's attention.
C) Shows a full fledged demineralised enamel surface and can still be restored in this condition without degenerative/ necrotic changes in the pulp.
How to prevent further progression of these WSL's?
In young children, remineralization can be achieved by Noninvasive methods that are very effective. Fluoride prevents the caries process, leading to the formation of less soluble fluorapatite crystals. Among them, Topical fluorides are the most respected regimen. On application of topical fluorides to the teeth, calcium fluoride-like globules are formed on the tooth surface. These globules are effective mineral reservoirs that help prevent demineralization and promote remineralization by releasing calcium, phosphate and fluoride following acid attacks.
